the society, first of all, has no colors because colors alone give people choices which could lead to disagreement or chaos. But The Giver is really a good book.

You made a mistake, he doesn’t just “see color”. He slowly receives them.

These words were taken right from the ancient book written 2, 500 years ago by Laozi 2:23 :: “All in the world know the beauty of the beautiful, and in doing this they have (the idea of) what ugliness is; they all know the skill of the skilful, and in doing this they have (the idea of) what the want of skill is. “

📚 Had read this book in middle school "The Giver" by Lois Lowry, and I had thought it was a great read. 🤯 This dystopian classic takes you on an emotional rollercoaster through a world without pain, but also without true feelings. 🧘‍♂️ Jonas' journey to discover the truth about his society will leave you questioning what it means to be human. A must-read that will stick with you long after you've turned the last page! 💫 #BookReview #TheGiver #MustRead

This was the first book I actually enjoyed that was assigned for a class.

There are so many inaccuracies with this video that if a student used it to write their book report on the novel, I would know they had not read the book.

Guys, when we found out that Rosemary was The Giver's child, I literally died inside. I wasn't expecting that. As a reader, I have experienced many plot twists, but none have ever affected me that much. Also, when we found out that Rosemary had killed herself, I was so hurt.

This video does not accurately describe the book. In The Giver's society they don't have animals, holidays, snow skis, or a diverse population.

You made a mistake you said the giver is old but in the book it says he's much younger than he seems and the job made him look younger

Just finished this novel as an ea and i think it is a good book for youth to read as the ending not knowing what happens (im looking into ordering the others) but its nice hearing what they percieve. I personally enjoyed the novel. sorry for grammar

Ah, I understand now. You're highlighting the difference between a society where superficial differences exist but hold no intrinsic value or significance, and one where even such differences are eradicated entirely, as depicted in "The Giver." In your experience, you simply made a choice to have your house painted differently, akin to selecting a smartphone cover or choosing a unique color for a personal item. These choices may not carry deep societal implications but still allow for individual expression within a broader context of social equality and cooperation.

I didn’t read the book but I saw the movie with Jeff Bridges and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t make me shed a tear. One of my favorite films ever.

i think that The Giver is a perfect reinactment of what is goin on in our current society. The mainsteram media is trying to make people forget that things have happened, that people have died and that moving on could feel easy should you give up your abilties to see what was right in front of your very eyes.
