Humanitarian Innovation Lab 2024

Local communities possess valuable traditional wisdom on ways to address their risks. They constantly come up with creative ways to solve their problems. We speak of needing people-centric solutions, but who better to design these solutions than the people themselves? This approach to innovation further complements technology and governance solutions to improve the efficiency of humanitarian action.

What we now need to do is scale these solutions to other communities facing similar problems. This is where governments, our networks, and national and international platforms come into the picture. The HI Lab project identifies and supports such innovations across geographies and hazards and co-creates pathways to scale them.
