[LG Refrigerator] - Reverse doors of a Bottom Freezer model

This video explains how you can reverse the doors of a bottom freezer.
Important:

Bought an LG Fridge at the end of 2023 and the manual did not have this information. I am happy that the official youtube does have the instructions how to change the door orientation.

The video itself is of great quality. The instructions are clear, concise and easy to follow.

The video itself should not be hidden. Either added to the manual, or official LG page, or somewhere else to be easier to find.

Can't understand why people are so grateful for this video. This information should be provided in the manual, not hidden on YouTube. Especially since companies that sell those fridges simply stopped offering the service to change the hinges on the doors, blaming COVID-19 and lack of personnel.

I found a plastic pry invaluable - used the one from an iPhone repair kit I have. You will need hex sockets 10mm and 6mm and a 5mm hex bolt key. You likely need to order a mini ratchet set if you don't have one. Also, to pry the top freezer mount from the door I used a wood chisel with a flat side and a bevelled side - worked MUCH more easily than the screwdriver example given here and I think if done carefully will cause less plastic damage too. My fridge was identical without the harness. The difference when you take the top of the door apart is you dont need to undo two screws - it all comes away with a plastic pry only, with the pieces being removed in the same order. Thanks LG Europe - you have been MUCH more helpful than the UK who want us to pay someone a fortune for doing this job which is extremely straight forward with instructions and the right tools.

When I first saw there was no information like this in the manual I got very frustaded, as one of the most important features for me when I bought it was to be able to switch doors. But this super helpful video saved my day, just what I was looking for. As someone already mentioned there should be a link or QR code in the manual to this video.

Success! Thank-you! Online LG Support (chat) said the LG GB-455UPLE could not reverse its doors. The plastic "S" shape part was supplied, but not the other/alternate base hinge! I phoned the carrier, as the fridge was unpacked from its carton on the street (my request, tight hallways). They said there was no 2nd hinge & looked in the truck. I noticed the bottom hinge was slightly different shape - there's an extra threaded hole! aha.. This video gave me enough hints & courage to try anyway.

GB-455UPLE Bottom Hinge. It turns out the bottom hinge is kept, but the pin on it must be swapped to the other hole. To get this done, half-way through the whole job, after both doors were removed, i laid the fridge on its back, to access the underneath. The bottom hinge contains a foot, so when it' is moved, the other foot needs to be swapped too. The pin swap is similar to what must be done for the middle hinge.

Hinge pin swap. OMG the pin is so tight. Sprayed pin thread with WD40, and left for 10mins. hand tools will generally strip metal off the pin! I purchased a socket-set and used a 6mm socket around the pin to get it undone. Same for pin on bottom hinge - they're SO TIGHT. I wrapped the bottom hinge part in a tea-towel to hold it better, then a lot-of-leverage on the socket-tool arm.
The middle hinge was more difficult. I'd say socket-set 6mm socket is necessary.

There were no wires to re-thread through the top door. Both panels (on fridge top, and top door) still need to be removed, to swap the top hinge.

Take care with the first step: the little (15x50mm) plastic panel broke (in the video it flies away) - the 2 tabs on it are on LHS & RHS, and not the same. One side has a long U shaped hook, the other a simple L shaped tab. I tried to super-glue the panel tab after it broke. Not great. Not end-of-the-world either. I'd soft-glued the panel to where it should be, so i could be removed again if necessary. Spend a bit more time on this first step. I used plastic "iPhone" opening tools, but the thing still broke!

Note, to state the post-job obvious: the internal ice tray (manual ice maker) is on the "wrong side" once the doors are reversed. You have to fully open the freezer door to access/pull-out the ice-tray. The ice is in the deep corner. The plastic framework holding the ice-tray does not look like it reverses. Then again, this door does need to fully open for the other freezer trays anyway. Not a big deal.

Working slowly, as the video did not quite match my fridge, the job was completed in about 3-4 hours (which included a shopping trip to buy a 6mm socket!)

For those making the switch - I used:
10mm socket to remove the top door bolts
6mm socket to flip the top pivot pin
5mm allen key for the middle and lower pivot brackets
large phillips screwdriver
old credit card as a pry tool
I used my finger to scrape some of the grease from the lower pivot pin to apply to the replacement pin.

Very nice and useful video. Not sure, why the instructions were not included with the documentation. Some info that might be useful for future viewers:
- My model did not have the screws as shown @1:33 Prying the panel upwards was sufficient.
- Do not try to lift up the plastic as shown @7:12 Instead use pliers, grab from the metal extrusion and pull directly upwards.
