This council needs to be dissolved, disbanded, terminated and replaced with normal people.

How out of touch can these politicians be

Why do customers have to pay for this instead of the corporations? Why are corporations never held accountable? Cancel the CEO's new yacht, there's recyclables to be held accountable for!

How does this cash grab save the planet? Where is that money going?

This is a money grab, when things are tough for people. I would like to know WHERE is the fee going to? This is 💩, so you have to walk out into the cold carrying your hamburger, fries, and drink and condiments, and then try and open you car door if you do carry out? This is getting out of hand

Insist on not bagging!! This will make service much slower, lower earnings for restaurants and hopefully cause them to protest this asinine tax.
Calgary city council needs to learn how to stay in their lane. The most incompetent group in this cities history.

If we want to reduce waste we need to start with city hall. You want to talk about waste, look at down town!!! For f sakes!!! How is charging us for things that were free going to help at all? This is power tripping gone wrong again!!! 2:02

Really….??? This is where her focus is??? How about the prices of taxes and homelessness??? Wow?? The world is backwards!!! Oh maybe from all the money you saved from events that didn’t happen you can use that to help… nope takeout containers is where you shift!! This speaks volumes!

She thinks we are used to taking our own bags to haul our goods. The change is very disruptive. I went to pick up a huge order and was forced to pay the price or take the food individually into my car, which was considerable.
This mayor has to go!
Meanwhile the money for these bags stay with the places which are charging for them. The money does not go towards taking care of the environment. In fact, it goes towards creating a profit for the restaurant. Or wherever you are buying the bags..

Instead of wasting time and energy worrying about paper bags, city council and administration ought to be working on ways to reduce spending and bring down the absurd 8% increase in taxes. These are the "high level" items that a business executive and management would be focused on.

The high paid mayor and city councilors should focus on more important matters. The mayor said people are not recycling or composting their fast food waste. I always do and she should not assume that people don't. The bags were not 'free', they were priced into the cost of food which is getting expensive. MacDonald's will be gaining about $60, 000 per year. The city has no right to make people give this money to MacDonald's and other rich fast food chains. Ridiculous!! City is so out of touch.

So the money collected is not even to a environmental cause and is just staying with the business? Don't food prices at those restaurants already include the cost of the bags and containers they are going into? Are they lowering the price and taking it out of the bill of peolle bringing their own containers? Seems the law only allow business to charge extra and nothing else.
