My favorite is “Sparkling in the Sand” Tower of Power played at my high school school’s junior prom in the 1970s at the Jack Tar Hotel in SF. I’ll remember that evening my whole life. ❤️

Great singer's career cut short by drugs. I sat through most of the trial and I gained sympathy for him. After the jury's verdict he was being led out of the courthouse but was allowed to make a brief statement to the media. I was standing there as he thanked those who stood by him, and pled to "ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls: learn from my disgrace, stay away from drugs. They bring misery and destroy lives." It was a very moving statement. After the maximum time he had to serve, he finally was released and I was glad to hear the news. He began a new constructive life which unfortunately cancer cut very short. Rest in peace, Rick Stevens.

I did 3 years with this man and let me say, he is the sweetest man you can ever meet. We plated this one the yard often. God bless that he made it out.

Looking and sounding great after 36 years in prison. Hard to believe he's 73 years old there. Glad to see him perform again. Great voice . RIP, brother.

Brought tears to my eyes hearing and seeing him sing this great song. I always wondered had what happened to the lead singer of Tower of Power. I watched many video's of Tower of Power and always wondered; "Where is the original singer"?. Its obvious that his time in prison never took away his joy and his maybe in prison is where re-found the light. Watching this video completes something for me. Rest in Peace Rick Stevens.

To me, he is THE voice of TOP. Can't tell you how many times I listened to TOP in my youth. I grew up listening to these guys, Chicago (Transit Authority), War, The Doobie Brothers, and all the greats of that time. I'm 64 now, and oh, the memories I have from that time. I wouldn't trade anything for those memories.

This makes me smile and sad at the same time, remembering the good and bad time back then. Plus, it reminds me of how long ago this song was and how old I am.

God, thank You for allowing us the opportunity to hear this song with the original players #TOP…. clearly Mr. Stevens has repented… You kept his gift intact to grace us one last time, many many years later. RIP Rick Stevens
