Think it comes down to want you want to spend, I wanted to just upgraded my TV sound and had a small budget, so the Beam for me, Makes a massive difference.

You are directly comparing the Beam which is $399 vs the Playbar which is $699...of course it is bigger, better, and therefore more expensive!

If you only compare these speakers in isolation then the playbar is a much. But when you think of design, connectivity and smart stuff, then the Beam seems like a better choice for me. What do you think? And the Playbar might anyways get an update at some point?

Beam and Playbar are targeted for different markets, beam is for small/medium rooms, people looking to upgrade tv sound with a fair budget but playbar is for big space, big sound, cannot be compared. I got the Beam which costs 545 AU$ and Playbar costs 1000 AU$, Beam is right for medium living space, I got it hooked with 2 play 3s as surrounds and it is miles ahead in comparison to my previous Sony soundbar. Even just the beam by itself for TV has clear advantage

It's like watching the hand from the Adams family !? Sorry can't follow with that thing waving around everywhere, otherwise well done.

Is the bass good enough if you use the playbar by itself?

Ik wilde de beam kopen maar nu twijfel ik zwaar over de bar of base. Maar de optical only zorgt waarschijnlijk voor problemen met dolby digital. Of heb je hier geen problemen mee?

What is the exact different between a home cinema set wit a playbar with two one's and a beam with two play 1's? I thought the one's ad elexa voice control. Does one really need the (expensive) sub when you use a playbar with two one's in a normal living room?

You didn’t mention AirPlay 2 on the beam for those that use iTunes or have Apple music . Although I intend just to use my library from plex anyway, which uses iTunes plugin and I have my record collection in flac now. Still like Bose and am tempted by the 500 soundbar, but the play bar is probably a lot better.

It's not that hard. I have the the playbase and sub in a large living room connected to an LG oled that's table mounted and it sounds great. I have the play beam in a small bedroom/man-cave and it sounds awesome. The beam seems to thrives in smaller rooms with a standard height ceilings. I have it in small converted bed room and the beam fits nicely under a 55" Sony X900F that's wall mounted. I think wall mounting in a small room helps it immensely. And I love how the beam sound works flawlessly with my cable remote.
