The issue with this is most people who passed a current background check would also pass a extended background check but most illegal firearm uses aren't from legally possessed firearms. The cases where someone who would have failed a background check such as Texas shooter Devin Kelley, his dishonorable discharge was not reported to NICS which would have prevented them under current background checks from obtaining a firearm from a firearm dealer. Chicago shooter Gary Martin also passed the background check that should not have been passed if the state of Mississippi had submitted the felony conviction information to NICS. As far as private sales this is still something that does not affect criminals since they since they don't abide by laws. Gun laws that we can all live with is, criminal acts with firearms such as felon in possession of a firearm, armed robbery, armed burglary, things such as this deserve capital punishment. Make criminal actions with firearms whether the firearm is used or not a high enough risk for a criminal not to chance. The people Democrats think laws will disarm are the same people law abiding gun owners stay armed to protect themselves against. The thing to remember is you cannot control another person's actions, only react to their action. A person who wants to engage in a criminal activity will find a way.
