Recently I uploaded my version of John Brown's Body. At the time, I was aware of course that the tune was also the tune to the Battle Hymn of the Republic, and intended to sing that too. However other requests came in and I forgot to do so. Now I have had a request from shadowsXelit for just that song, so here it is.
The following short history is available in Wikipedia:
"The Battle Hymn of the Republic" is an American abolitionist song. The lyrics were written by Julia Ward Howe in November 1861 and first published in The Atlantic Monthly in February 1862. It became popular during the American Civil War. Julia Ward Howe was the wife of Samuel Gridley Howe, the famed scholar in education of the blind. Samuel and Julia were also active leaders in anti-slavery politics and strong supporters of the Union.
I have just produced a book of songs under the title "50 Songs from the 'threelegsoman' collection". It is available as a printed book or as an eBook and can be found at:
