The 2023 Audi e-Tron Chronos Is An Electric SUV That Puts Comfort & Luxury First

Around 4 years ago, Audi introduced their first-ever fully dedicated electric vehicle called the #Audietron. It had all the luxury and tech you'd expect from Audi, but it didn't quite have the range and the acceleration EV buyers expected from other brands like Tesla. For 2023, the #etron gets a bit more range but expect the upcoming heavily revised #Q8etron to rectify some of the flaws of this original model.

Happy Friday everyone! We just wanted to quickly clarify, we filmed this video BEFORE Audi announced the big refresh on this model, including the name change to Q8 e-tron for 2024. We should be getting our hands on one sometime next year so expect an updated review then! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I have a 2019 e-Tron "First Edition" and it has been a phenomenal vehicle...probably the best I've owned. It is a very comfortable-riding vehicle, luxurious inside and the fit & finish leaves the other electric car competition in the dust. All this with no maintenance. It's been a joy to own.
The one drawback for me is range. Although Audi has improved it over the past few years on newer models, my 2019 gets 190-200 miles per charge which is no problem for daily driving, but inconvenient on long trips.

I absolutely love the Etron. I too just bought a CPO 2019 First Edition with every option available and I can’t tell you how much I love it. I traded in my 2022 Q7 and couldn’t be happier. I am averaging 250 miles if I charge to 100%, but I’m super aggressive with the regenerative breaking…it’s like a game to see how efficient I can make it.

Don’t agree that a car with 226miles EPA should be considered a “long range” EV, 300miles/500km would seem a more sensible benchmark

I purchased the 2022 version of this vehicle in white with brown interior. It was initially a non-retail sale mobility vehicle for the dealership. I l live it, coming from an SQ7. Yes, it’s slower 0-60, but I have never found the need to drive in that manner from a standstill. It is quicker than the usual ICE vehicles at stoplights allowing me to change lanes when needed.

I like this blacked out package with the yellow calipers. It would be much better with yellow stitching and seatbelts on the inside!

220 miles for $80, 000+ just doesn’t cut it anymore. Considering that’s the *optimal* range, I worry how it fares in cold temps. My commute is pretty substantial, granted it’s not 200 miles a day but it’s annoying to charge minimum every other day. Audio sure charges a premium but the money doesn’t seem to go into the range.

I recently got a low mileage 2019 Prestige e-tron for a great price, that’s over $10k less than the GV60 Performance. I have to say, I absolutely love it. Most comfortable car I’ve ever had. Comparing it to a Tesla is like chalk and cheese. The Tesla Model Y I had was far quicker and hard a better range. But this is so much more luxurious and comfortable, and more than quick enough, that it’s a clear winner fully my needs. I don’t know if I’d say the same though if I had paid it’s full price as you had yours optioned. But it’s worth considering a low mileage 2nd hands one.

One of my favorite EVs. I’m curious how many EV owners constantly floor or break torque their vehicles…

I want to consider vehicle as an option when we’re ready to buy an EV but the lower range hurts in my opinion.

Very rare you get the same material from the dash on the door panel. I love that because it actually has enough padding to make resting arm comfy. Usually it’s so thin it’s kinda useless

I looked hard at this and ultimately decided to wait for the Q8. I think they are going to have trouble selling these models with the next one right around the corner having meaningfully more range which really is the biggest concern for the e-tron. Unfortunately, I feel like I'm going to be waiting for a while to order and take delivery here in the US. But no doubt this car is incredibly appealing and makes Tesla look and feel like a toy brand. Also the acceleration felt amazing to me coming from an ICE. I think driving ridiculously fast accelerating cars warps your expectations of how fast a car should need to accelerate.

"Instantaneous thrust once it gets going" = "Not instantaneous thrust"

Great review as always! I agree with you, the range and infotainment system need upgrading to bring this ev into current times. Audi build quality and ride is hard to beat, on the other hand. 👌🏾

Great review. You did mention how fast the e-tron can recharge (150KW), but missed one of its best charging attributes. That attribute is that the charge curve will run at 150KW, or close to it, for most of the charge time. Most other EVs may charge faster but not for most of the charge time.

Thx for the review. I honestly think 350 km is totally fine. I’m planning on buying the 2023 this week(not this version, as the base is still nice, and a hell of lot cheaper).

There's launch mode you have to hold a break and the pedal at the same time it's gonna do green wave on the screen

Just test drove the Lexus RZ 450E today. We actually just about purchased it, but decided to wait and look at a few others. I have watched a few of your videos and was wondering if you would be willing to share which one you prefer? We were hoping to test drive the Cadillac Lyriq soon too. Can you share some of your opinions? Thank you

I would enjoy seeing the interior at night on your long term testers.
