Google Glass vs. Snapchat Spectacles | The Future of Smart Glasses

It started with Google Glass in 2012. A handful of companies have since tried to design a mainstream-ready pair of smart glasses. But here we are in 2020 and the best execution of connected glasses is by Snapchat, of all companies. Having a camera on your face is profound. Why aren’t more manufacturers doing this?

Wearable cameras- youre absolutely right about having a computer in your eyes is too overwhelming

Love it! I’m an OG spectacles owner and a big advocate for new cool form factors and wearable tech, and seeing Sam wearing the v3 specs has me considering an upgrade...

Dude you should give the Insta360 Go a try. It’s a wearable camera, stabilized with ok footage, that you don’t have to put on your face, but hang from a magnet you wear as a collar.

Like you I’ve always dreamed of a wearable camera and the Go, so far, seems the best implementation because you don’t have to wear any sort of glasses

The only problem "Press a button to start recording a 10-second 3D video. Press it again to keep recording for 10 more seconds, up to 60 seconds total. Hold to take a 3D photo."

That was the worst part for me using my original snapchat glasses. Have a setting. It records till you stop it from recording. Idk why they put a limitation of 10 seconds and requires you to click it again to keep it recording. I tried doing it while skiing, running, lifting and it pissed me every time 10 seconds is coming around you have to press it. 60 seconds would be much better and just click again to stop the recording before that.

I know they want people to post on snapchat.... but stop holding back people by locking it to your platforms 10 second bs.

I do believe the Spectacles v3 offer you notifications, I'm not mistaken they're only for Snapchat and alert you when a friend sends you something. Anyway love love love my v3 Spectacles. I've been a Spectacles user since v1 (have v2 as well) and they have allowed me to simultaneously be present and capture moments in a way that I never would've.

Lets also not forget that Sam's youtube channel has become a very definite genre youtuber and that is tech and trend review youtuber. and I think Sammy has transitioned successfully and we are so glad he is doing what he is doing consistently

I never thought about it this way but the spectacles v3 sounds like a great piece of wearable tech.

A camera on you head is probably really convenient. But I really would love to have Google Maps in my glasses as well.
