How many times do we have to yell triband with 220 and a detachable face before one of the big 3 listen!

Thank goodness they are making yet another dual band mobile. No one really wants a replacement to the All-BAND 857. Right?

Bottom line: This is a stop gap radio to compete with the 2730 and the 71a. Yaesu shot themselves in the foot with the discontinuation of the 8800 and this is the damage control.

This an updated radio that reminds you very much of the FT7800 / FT7900 models.. Very Nice Rig !!

As a die-hard Team Yaesu guy for years, I can honestly say this new bare bones radio has nothing to offer other than Bluetooth and detachable face (neither of which I care about) I would much rather see something with more useable features like: SSB, dual VFO/true duplex, split, high power (80-100w), tri band (1.25m or 23cm), digital, or dual radio repeater linking. Any one of which would make the unit a viable option. Just not enough features to justify the price tag.

I have two FT-7900s. This is the same radio with less buttons so it makes you go through menus for things like squelch. They should have just brought back the 7900/8800/8900. Those radios were loved.

A new radio made only because certain old components are not available to make more existing models, so they built one with components that are. Just like the FT5D.

Are good to put out a cross band repeat radio?

Does it have a data port for Winlink or packet? Anderson PP on 12V DC line?

I think it's great that Yaesu is moving forward in the market and understanding that there is such a shortage of ICs these days for newer products. However, is Yaesu thinking a bit backwards when it comes to newer radios. I completely understand the idea of separating the control head which I think is a must anymore is a great idea but analog only. If that was the case why not build a radio with a bit more power, maybe 75 or 100 watts for both bands. Just a thought...

I love the display on this radio. It's very mobile-friendly. When did cramming tiny fonts on a TFT color screen start being viewed as a positive?

Bought the FTM-400 about 4 months ago after a struggle with purchasing the FTM-300. I was worried when I heard mention of the FTM-6000. This seems like it is more comparable to Yaesu's lesser radios. Not sure if it should be in the 'FTM' category. I'm also wondering if this is the result of chip and component shortages. Yaesu had to receive an approval 'Certificate' of their design intent. In doing so, called the radio an FTM-6000. Then shortages changed what they could actually build using 'said' certificate. Best Regards.

When I glanced at the title, I saw "600" and thought a new updated FTM400XDR! Boy was I disappointed, what a letdown.

Well compared to the icom 2730 I would prefer having the capability of a dual screen with crossband repeat. Not sure if this radio does that or not but I would still prefer the option of dual display. Great video!

I have no problem with analog only, and it has air band receive which is a requirement for me. My question is where does the mic attach? I want to be able to easily remove the mic when the unit is mounted in one piece (head unit and body attached)

If that was dual-display like you talkin about I would buy one.

I like that it is analog ... old school here, not interested in digital ...
Would like to see an "ALL MODE" version, cross band repeat would be nice too ....
