Dragnet, the police radio and television series most remembered for its great television success, is a creation of Jack Webb, American actor, producer, film director and famous author, who plays the titanic role of Sergeant Joe Friday.
The series offered viewers an idea of the monotony, as well as the danger and heroism of police work.
