Google is making ONE Nexus 4. The omission of LTE also allows it to be astronomically cheaper. The focus of a Nexus device is for it to be a flagship for the 'Google Experience' (i.e. stock Android/as Google intended) and making a carrier version dilutes the Nexus concept. The Verizon and Sprint Galaxy Nexus devices require 'carrier testing' and specific additional software for the LTE functionality. This makes updating an LTE Nexus takes considerably longer than a Google controlled Nexus.

Great vid man. Thinking about selling my S3 and upgrade to a note 2, do you recommend it? Which one do you prefer out of the two? Thanks

@Nick Preveza, the Tegra 4 is considerably weaker. Its CPU is based on the dated A9 architecture, whereas the N4 has an S4 pro Krait chip based off of A15 with some features of A9, which makes it more power efficient and better performing. Also, Tegra 3 is made off of the 40nm process (S4 is 28nm) which makes it again worse performing and more battery consuming. The S4 Pro is the best performing chip on the market today (something I never thought I'd say since Qualcomm isn't usually the best).

Nexus 4 looks awesome and the price is perfect also not waiting for updates is huge . Enough for me to overlook the fact it doesn't have lte.

I can't wait to get mine and put it on at&t :)

however, other people could look at it like:
s4 processor, 2gb ram, android 4.2, ips display = complete win

It's all personal preference :)

I will definitely be picking this up. I am currently on sprint with a gs2 off contract and it really comes down to that price point. I don't see any logic with staying on sprint in an area without LTE. Sprint would be $200phone (2yr contract) & $79.99 a month and non-LTE market vs T-Mobile at $349 Nexus 4 & $30 prepaid in a HSPA+42 market. Everyone's mileage will vary but to me its a no brainer.

Cool video and great points about the nexus 4 without LTE, the unlocked phone is a steal just like the nexus 7!

It's true about nexus sales, I work at Sprint as a tech and the reps never push the phone.when I see then selling an S2, I ask them why not the nexus...better display, latest OS, faster, twice the memory, and they just shrug their shoulders

The LG OPTIMUS G is ATT and SPRINTS Nexus. Same processor and ram! The Verge.com posted an article on why Goog left out LTE and only went unlocked. Lets just say, the 4 month Jelly Bean update delay by Sprint and Verizon did not help matters.

qbking with the release of the nexus 4 do you believe that this could mark the death of the galaxy nexus or will people still be interested in it?

Is hspa+ on the att network? I live in an area that does not have LTE and currently use an original galaxy note. I enjoy the phone but do not utilize the LTE or spen to justify the huge size. What are your recommendations on switching from the gnote to nexus 4?

Quote from Google "Google wants direct control of the software on Nexus devices with no carrier intervention. That alone means Google can’t sell an LTE device, as there’s simply no access to LTE networks without working with carriers in one way or another: Verizon and Sprint’s LTE networks still require compatibility with their 3G CDMA systems, and there’s essentially no such thing as an unlocked CDMA device."

With the nexus 4 it's a good reason for me to finally try out T-Mo's prepaid 4g plan. I'll still keep my sprint contract though in case I don't like the coverage

No, Google intends for the Nexus to be carrier unlocked from here on. What that means is faster updates to all nexus devices and one unified script of code

as a follow up to my statement below "AT&T’s LTE network runs on different frequencies than other LTE networks around the world, so Google would have to build a custom phone for just 77 markets in the US. Doing that without AT&T’s financial assistance makes little sense."
