How to determine the degree and leading coefficient given the graph of a polynomial
Показать описание
👉 Learn how to find the degree and the leading coefficient of a polynomial expression. The degree of a polynomial expression is the the highest power (exponent) of the individual terms that make up the polynomial. For terms with more that one variable, the power (exponent) of the term is the sum of the powers (exponents) of the variables that make up the term.
The leading coefficient of a polynomial is the coefficient of the term with the highest power (exponent). We will explore how to determine the leading coefficient and the degree from a graph.
From the graph of a polynomial, the degree of a polynomial can be identified by the number of turns in the graph with the degree equal to one plus the number of turns of the graph.
For even degree polynomials, the leading coefficient is positive if the graph's end behavior rises left and rises right and is negative if the graph's end behavior falls left and falls right.
For odd degree polynomials, the leading coefficient is positive if the graph's end behavior falls left and rises right and is negative if the graph's end behavior rises left and falls right.
