I must admit that I neglected brushing my ShihTzu for about a week. She got SO matted!! She has a silky coat which mats easily! I saw your other video about using coconut oil and warm water. I had to try it. It was messy, but I'm SO thankful that the mats came out with some work. I didn't have to "cut" any of her coat. Thank you for giving us all this valuable information.

Thank you so much Amy!!! I have watched lots of grooming channels but decided to try this method because it’s what I had available at home to use. Long story short my Rough Collie got super matted on me after a season she had to be a “yard” dog because of some unforeseen circumstances. I had already gotten astronomical quotes for a full shave down. It took me 1 jar of coconut oil, about 2 hours total time (brushing and bathing) and my Collie looks like she had a profesional groom!!!! She only had 3 mats total that I needed to trim out. The rest of it was easily falling off and brushed out effortlessly with a slicker brush. I wish I could post before and after photos forever grateful! I will watch your other videos to learn to properly care for her coat at home!

Hi Amy. I am a follower on your channel. I find you to be so authentic and soooo good. Thank you for having the heart to share your secrets with us non professionals who love our dogs and sometimes cant afford to go to a groomer as often as we should. You are a blessing. May God continue to make your channel and your work stand out. You are really a professional.❤❤❤

Love your demeanor with your "customers" ... it really goes a long way to establish trust and make them more comfortable with grooming. I have a VERY difficult long-coated shepherd/husky/collie juvenile that can be aggressive during his care sessions. Patience is key and I hope he becomes a good citizen eventually.

Amy!!! You are great! I have a sweet pup (I call her a king Yorkie poo - king Charles cav/yp) who HATES going to the groomer, she always comes back traumatized 💔 so I'm attempting to try to take better care of her AND attempt to do some of the grooming at home. I am so excited that I found your channel to learn from! You have such a sweet personality, you have definitely found your calling helping us pet parents learn to care for our kiddos! I love how you explain & demonstrate things so easily & simply. I'm so grateful I was led to your channel! I think my sweetie-pup will be even MORE grateful!

‘Hair repair for your dog’ and for yourself! I love using coconut oil as a hair mask. Didn’t realise you could use it on dogs too! Me and my pooch can have a pamper night together 🥰

I have a Shihpoo mix. I ususally take her to thr groomer but it's not always in my budget. Your video has truly helped me. The amount of matting that she accumulates is unbelievable. So glad I came across this video. Thank You.

This video was GREAT ! My Sr. dog has always hated going to the groomer even when she was a pup, and now that she's older with bad hips, etc..."we" agreed, no more professional grooming because not only does she hate it, now it leaves her limping on her bad joints for the next day twos ! But I was desperate to find out how to thin and get out mats out of my Aussie. Her hair is in bad need of de-matting and thinning in the body area, or perhaps just all the dead hair. This video helped give me basic knowledge, with tools I can get, and I already have the coconut oil ! Thank you so much !!

My dog is a Bearded Collie. This is a Scottish cattle herding breed. She has wooly undercoat and a long topcoat. This sounds like a great way to maintain her coat. Thanks for showing this technique.

Oh my goodness I wish I'd seen this video 1 day sooner. I just groomed my dog (maltese/yorkie mix) yesterday and had to cut the hair on his legs shorter then usual because of a few mats. That's it I'm out the door to go get coconut oil!
Thank you GO GROOMER for all your great tips!
I learn something new from everyone of your videos! 🧡
