Very good. Succinct and to the point. I've heard about NixOS for ages but never actually seen this stuff in action so this video was great.

Now that you've done a tutorial, I think it would be really useful if you did an overview of nix/nixos internals - how it's structured, what is the overall design & management philosophy, and in particular, where the packages are stored. I've heard it's immutable, and you can have multiple versions of apps and libraries without conflicts. I see from this video that it can pull package binaries from repo caches or rebuild them from sources, if required. I find that most videos on nix are just cookbook recipes without telling you how it works and what's happening.

I'm a fan of Arch Linux. I decided to give NixOS a try and I have to say I am really liking it. The fact that one can roll back to a previous state is a really nice feature. Thanks for the video.

I recently switched from Debian to Nix and I must say I really like it. Still figuring out quite a few things like flakes and such, but really like the Package Management System and the amount of packages.

The config file is there telling you don't need to prepend `pkgs.` to the package names 🤦‍♂

Also, you don't have to reboot after every install/uninstall of packages. Only when something that changes the configuration of the system is modified, like a kernel update, an init task or version is changed, etc.

could you perhaps do a tutorial on how to specifically get obs with the ndi plugin up and running?

How would you delete that ancient X-term app in the gnome install? I didn't see it listed in the nix configuration file, so nothing to comment out (maybe I missed it??). Come to think of it, is there a way to list installed apps on the command line?

I installed software on my profile using the configuration.nix file. I know tried using the # to comment the name of one software I installed (Bottles in this case) while I can't access the software anymore, all the files are still there. How do you remove everything?

Combination of the used microphone and the relatively many sibilants and battarism from the spoken accent = hard to understand
