This is the song "Leonard" from Full Metal Jacket: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. The song was made by Abigail Mead. I don't own this song.

Sure this is track is creepy and ominous, but it also has a hollow, lonesome, tragic and depressing tone to it.
Fitting for someone who is about to commit a murder-suicide after being bullied into a mental dead end.

This is the most haunting track I've ever heard.

This film turned from a comedy into a horror so quickly. I'm not sure what shocked me more, the quick transition of seeing Leonard turn from a regular teenager into a full-on psychotic killer, or the fact how things very quickly became scarily real. I underestimated this film's shock value and it sure as hell slapped me round the face for it.

"If Hartman comes in here and catches us, We'll both be in a world of shit."

In the novel Pyle actually shoots Hartman in the barracks and his final words to Pyle were

"Private Pyle....I'm proud."

Hartman’s job was to create killing machines and his own creation ended up killing him, how ironic

nothing like sitting in the parking lot before your shift listening to this to get a nice, borderline postal feel before work

Amazing sound. decades ahead of its time. fitting for a truly unforgettable, brutally dark moment of cinema.

This is one of the finest compositions for film I know and keep coming back to it. Its 2-note bass ostinato excellently imitates the deep breathing of a monster; the monster that Private Pyle transforms into. The simple melody, a cry for meaning that never resolves, the dissonances intersecting like a serpent biting its tail into self-destruction. Private Pyle's dark thoughts can be heard macerating while he open-mouth breathes. There are no positive feelings in this music: the only attempt at a perfect cadence to resolve this tension at 3:12 ends in a half-tone dissonance, maybe this symbolises the irony in the fate of Private Pyle's whose only talent, marksmanship, becomes the instrument of his own death.
