The JWST Neptune Image That Brought A NASA Astronomer to Tears

Dr. Heidi B. Hammel waited decades to see Neptune so vividly, as captured by the James Webb Space Telescope’s Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam). The last time some of these rings around Neptune were detected was in 1989 when NASA’s Voyager 2 spacecraft observed the planet during a flyby.

A recent panel at the Museum of Science brought together some of Webb’s leading team members and astronomers in conversation with Radiolab’s Molly Webster.

It's common education, at least it was when I graduated in 2010 that Neptune had faint rings. It's so cool to see it actually validated.
