New Training: GDPR Awareness

In this video, Simona Millham covers GDPR and explains how it protects the personal data of EU residents. It does this by preventing websites from collecting identifying information about them. She further defines what personal data is as it relates to these regulations and provides many examples of it.

After watching this video, you will understand what GDPR is and why your organization may need to follow it even if it is not based in the EU. Simona explains how any website that offers goods and/or services to EU citizens must obey GDPR regulations or otherwise face penalties. This means that they cannot collect any type of data that could lead to identifying an EU site visitor without their permission.

Not only can they not collect personal IDs, addresses and phone numbers, but they also cannot collect computer identification information such as IP addresses, cookies and RFID tags.
