In the late 1970s I worked on the Indiana toll road at a service plaza. Buddy Ebsen stopped in during one of his trips. He must’ve talked to several of us standing by for over 20 minutes. He was the nicest person.

I met Buddy Epsen at a restaurant when I was seven (1969). He was such a nice man and I’ve never forgotten our encounter. He told me I was cute and gave me a silver dollar lol. Sweetest man ever

Buddy Ebsen sounds like he was exactly as he appeared, wholesome, hard working, a man of integrity and resilience. Loved him in Beverly Hillbillies. Such a sweet man. ❤

His biography is a worthwhile read. As a kid he was a lifeguard at his parents (?) swimming pond and dance instructor. The girls loved him because he was funny, a good dancer and really nice guy. Truely a role model of a man.

"At the Codfish Ball" with Shirley Temple was one of the fun dances that we watched growing up. What a show that was, they looked like they were having the best time - whether they were or not. Buddy Epsen was a really wonderful actor, we loved all his shows and movies.

An icon who had a stellar career before, during and after Hollywood's Golden Age. I always liked him.

Still the best cameo in any move or show he did was when he played a detective Barnaby Jones in the movie remake of the Beverly Hillbillies in the early 90's . That was pure gold !

That Buddy Ebsen took the time to help my husband, long before he became my husband, after he was stung by a stingray off the CA. coast one day. At the time my husband was stung he was in a lot of pain and he went to the nearest home to get some help. Buddy came right out and helped my husband get the area washed off and bandaged up so he could get on his way. That’s the most important roll I remember him playing. Mr.Ebsen could be human and express kindness before anything else.
Thank you Mr. Ebsen may you rest in peace.

I loved watching him as uncle Jed & Barnaby Jones.
It was like watching the grandfather I never knew 😢.
They say Everyone has a none- biological twin Somewhere,
Well Buddy Ebsen was my grandfather's none- bio twin .
My grandfather died in 1940 @ 50 years old when my Mother was only 8 years old . 😢
I had always seen pics of my grandpa and when I was old around 4 I recognized Buddy Ebsen on TV on the Beverly Hillbillies in one of the rare occasions he had his hat off, and to my delighted childhood surprise I saw the man in the picture on the wall, I knew as my Grandpa Jackson on tv. I told my Mother that grandpa wasn't in Heaven bcuz he was on TV.
Of course that made her cry and I didn't understand why. 😮 but my Grandma, all 9 of thier children, and most of his 30 grandchildren, and even a few great & great great grandchildren over these meny years have been ask why we have a picture of Buddy Ebsen on our wall, well when we tell them "That's not Buddy Ebsen, that's Wilmer Jackson our grandfather they look at us like we're lying.
I promise we're not .

Buddy Ebsen was so talented. He could sing, dance, act. He was so good in many projects. I can't imagine being a young actor, getting a big part like the Tin Man in TWOZ and then having it taken back because of dangerous makeup. Thanks for this video of this talented man. It's nice that his daughter is helping to carry on his legacy of entertaining.

I loved his early movies...over his later tv shows... because they showcased his dancing. He was so talented even as an older actor.
