China’s export restrictions on some gallium and germanium products kicked in on Aug 1. However, ample market warning and a slump in demand for global electronics have helped to ease the prices of these two minor metals. David Lennox, resource analyst at Fat Prophets, tells CNA’s Asia Now which sectors are likely to be impacted by China’s move.

KYC (Know your customer), companies need to submit documents to the export control authorities in China, who are the final end users are what is it used for (eg. military industrial complex). If the users are the companies that implement sanction or export control like equipments to China or use in military that's against China will not obtain these materials license

😮😮these GG metals are "burn" in into the final production and extraction are as possible as extraction from rare earth or zinc oxide, there are not substitution for the GG production as you can't compromised on the quality of it's end product application especially in military uses.

CNA has deviated from the initial objective. If it couldn't stand as an independent broacaster, just close it down. We have others like CNN, BBC.

- Problem is, it's not economically viable as the cost could be above 100 times that of China's

Let's see what would happen to those wafer fabs in Singapore after the Chinese made the prices of 14nm and above chips dropped 30% to 50%.
