How does this compare to Rails ordinary way of caching? Isn't it the same?

Edit, got the answer from the Readme.
It says the following:
"... the asset links cannot be stored in the standard Rails cache. (If the Rails cache had a lifetime option of, "until next boot", that would solve the problem.)"
