Review of the ECWCS Gen III Level 3 Fleece Jacket.
A great piece of U.S. Military gear, that is one layer of the ECWCS system. Soft, warm, and comfortable, will definitely work on its own in cooler temperatures, but is designed to be part of the ECWCS Parka.

I got two of these foliage color surplus fleeces cheap now that everyone wants the coyote brown version.

It's a pretty good and comfortable jacket. Excellent insulator/liner. I have two. One I wear all the time inside the house during the winter in upstate NY as though it were my pajamas. Very comfortable. The other I wear as a liner for my Carhartt Chore coat when outside doing work, such as snow blowing the driveway. I never get cold with them, even when it's below zero.

Very excellent find my friend! I really like the features and it looks like it will be pretty warm and fairly wind resistant.

Hey bud wondering why doesnt it have a polartec tag on the inside pocket. Instead it has that tiny black tag while it should have Polartec instead. Im asking because i bought a new fleece (DSCP black one) and mine also doenst have polartac tag which is pretty unusual

Can someone explain the sizing? Depending on the brands but normal a fleece top I would need around 40~44". Depending on how tight/loose I want. How would that work out to these military clothing sizes? or the onces where it showsn measurements from pit to pit? How to convert?

Just picked one up online store $19 came in original packing new.
It's really comfortable.
In the civilians backpacking world this is a $150 and up.
I'm 6'3 250 pou ds so the only real option I have in military size is XXL or size 50.
This size is really hard to find. Either very popular or just not many service members this size.

I have the Gen3 ECWCS level 6 Goretex Top and Bottom in OCP. Instead of military issue ECWCS, I got the Helikon Tex Gen3 ECWCS level 1 silk weight base layer and Level 2 Grid Fleece base layer and for the Level 3 I got the Helikon Tex Patriot Fleece in Camogrom which is Multicam, its just not licensed from Crye. It goes well with my military issue BDU Top and Bottom in OCP. I also have the Camogrom watch cap and OCP Boonie Hat. The Patriot Fleece with the BDU top is a killer coat and if it's raining or snowing I switch to the Gen3 Goretex Top. Best coat I own. I got the Gen2 ECWCS Goretex Bottom in woodland for $20 when I get the spare money, I'm gonna get the top.
