AV-8B Harrier AAR Tutorial | DCS World Tutorial

AAR in the AV-8B Harrier in DCS World can be difficult, so I have created this tutorial to help make it easier.

Very nice tutorial. Funny to see how different people use different sight pictures.

I myself always line up the top left corner of the HUD with the refuelling pod on the tanker to get the side-to-side position right. I found it to be easier to refuel off of different airframes that way, when the tankers may not always have the same engine layout (KC-130 or S-3B).
But it does seem that I always line up slightly too far to the left, so might be time for me to change my habits!

Great video - thank you. I really need to get back into the Harrier. And I've not yet attempted refulling as I'm so terrible in other airframes - just can't help looking at that damn basket!

I really enjoy your content, thanks. Have you noticed that new versions of the Harrier can't hover at the same weight anymore? It has to be very light to hover, needing H2O and at the engine limits. Maybe it was overpowered before, but it seems like they reduced it too much. Your thoughts?..thanks-

I didn't realize those lights at the top left were refueling lights. What do they indicate?

Good video. Do you have any tips for stabilising the approach? I do use AFC (flicking on then off) to try and trim, but using the normal trim controls never seems to have a fine enough control to give as stable an approach as you have in the video. Any suggestions appreciated.

I don't know why, but I actually find it easier by looking left at the probe and basket when I'm relatively close, and then gently bring the probe in . I've tried in the past the "lineup" method, but always found it a bit unnatural.

Do you find the sight pictures vary a lot if you are in 2D or VR?

"If you are refueling on the right-hand side, you will just do the opposite"... errr... no. No, you won't :D The refueling probe does not magically swap sides just because you are tanking on the right wing, Pascale! =) You definitely shouldn't put your heading carat between the right-hand engine and the right-hand pod... that won't get you very far.
