Mora 746G. Best Mora pack knife?

I have owned the Mora 746G for years. It's one of my preferred Mora pack knives. I just toss it inside my pack for use during longer range outings. Very UL and the 12c27 holds a nice edge plus is very rust resistant. The larger grip feels very comfortable in my hands especially when processing wood for my stoves.

IMHO it was the Bushcrafty synthetic Mora before bushcrafty synthetic Mora knives became all the rage. Also have a Mora 711G within my preps. Wonderful knife as well.

Your enthusiasm and cheerful way of talking is a delight to watch and it is so easy to listen to you. I have an issue with handles under 4 inches. They make my fingers feel crushed and create tension particularly in my last two fingers. It's an important point in selecting a knife otherwise it just sucks to use it.Nice review and thanks for sharing and suggesting this overlooked knife.

I bought a 746 in "shitty sea" blue branded for Kamasa because it was half the price. Love the knife, much easier to quickly sharpen to shave than my folding knives with usual secondary bevels. It was so cheap I truly don't have to worry about it. Been carrying it since 2016, in my pack too

You need to check out the new Mora Kansbol knife. I just received one and it is AWESOME!!!

The knife sheath was made for a button knife holder Swedes have on work pants. With how many outdoors people use Mora's it wouldn't surprise me if they start putting the Swedish style button holders on some outdoors clothing elsewhere too.

I have an KJ Mora 2000 and there are some differences between the Morakniv and the older ones. The KJ is significantly larger and the blade is taller and has a taller bevel.
If I can find a 746G from KJ on ebay, I will order it now.
So far my favorite blades from Mora are this KJ Mora 2000 and the Companion. Maybe my favorite knives over all. And I do have other brands like Bark River and even some closer to moras like the Marttinis.
I just didn`t like much my Bushcraft Orange because of the handle and because of that I didn`t order the Black which have a cool blade.
Almost forgot of the 106 and... I forgot the name/number. But I really like the carving knifes even to take outdoor. I have the 106 and one with a larger handle that is great for other stuff as well not just carving.

Say Heah Mega, I leaned something neat, I learned that you don't have to hold a knife by the handle only. Now I enjoy a large knife One Tool Option. That and a long lanyard, I can tie the long lanyard uppa my arm and hold the tip of the large knife and Blip, Blap, Blam I can clean small game fish, and do some fine work, But any knife depending what your carving and or doing, The closer the hand to the edge the better your control. I lean alot from videos like yours and some credit has to go to guys like William Collins, Mors Kochanski, Mike Gavko and some of his large Choppers and steel selection, But William and Mors I watch how they hold their knives. Look at Mors hold a knife. Heah, I really enjoyed your video. Right now, I'm getting use to using my Ratweiler and my Potbelly as One Tool Option and yes, I like my Mora 510 as a neck knife. But the Mora 2000 is still my Mora Fav, If I could only pick one Mora, 2000 all the way.

Say Heah, To each his own. But I agree the 746, 511 are very good. But my Fav. is my 2000. infact I teamed it with my Mora Hatchet and Bacho Laplander to make a awesome lite trio. It's a very lite trio, But very functional. At first I didn't like the look's of the 2000, But I tried ot and the dual grind is super working wood. Oh, The Military Cadet's ate issued the 2000, So now It's one of my Fav. Mora. But I also like my 510, and my Classic #1 which I made a piggyback with my Bokor Black Vox Told. I put a Nylon Belt Loop on my Vox Told Sheath on the loose Handle Strap, The two created an awesome piggyback, Two very good wood working knivesm I still consider that carry a Lite Trio, But of the stronger type. I use that piggybavk with my Estwing Sportsman Hatchet and my Corona folding saw, and I can meet a survival situation head on with that trio. Infact I can do it with my Lite Mora Trio also. Which I carry the hatchet and saw in my makeshift haversack. The other trio, I carry it in person. But alot never heard of the Forest Exclusive Mota Line that's slowly being discontinued, Infact the #311 already has, But I was able to buy the Forest Exclusive #277, It's a beautiful traditional hand-made laminayrd blade with a hardwood handle and brass bolster and pommel and a full sticktang with a beautiful leather sheath. It's one of my Fav. neck knives. It kind of looks like a streamline Classic #1 but with a natural harwood finish and not red., , .

Well, I made it through almost 7 minutes of basic over reaction to a knife name that has been around for many years and is probably one of the best quality knives, for the price, available on the market today. All that information is fairly common knowledge to most of us who have been camping, hiking, and guiding in the outdoors for years. It is also my personal opinion that hi-carbon steel holds an edge much better than any form of stainless on the market. Rust is not an issue if you take proper care of your equipment and don't abuse the tools by leaving them outdoors in the rain for days. You remind me of a little kid who got his first Mora for a b'day gift yesterday and is experiencing all the nifty keen and cool stuff one can do with a really sharp knife. One more critique on your demonstrations, it is a fool who slashes away at a stick with a sharp knife while looking at the camera if the hiking boot fits I'll be glad to show you how to lace it up.

I owned so many mediocre knives before finally buying a few really nice and rather expensive knives and the only really pricey knife that I still actually use is my 55 year old Puma skinner that I bought in Germany back in the 60's. I also own a nice Leech Lake fillet knife handmade by Don Canney that I rarely use as it is too much of a work of "edged art" to carry down to a rocky stream bed for gutting/filleting trout. It is sharper on the back edge/spine side for about 3" behind the point than most knives are on the grind side.

With that said, my favorite day to day utility knives are still the middle of the road Mora Bushcraft knife for the light work and the Schrade SCHF37 for the heavier batoning and chopping work. The spines on both have been reworked to kick a shower of sparks off of most ferrocerium rods with little or no effort on my part. Both are 1095 carbon steel and both hold an edge quite well no matter what I put them through in camp or on the trail. I recently bought a Morakniv Garberg but I haven't used it enough to pass an opinion on it on to others. I own, counting the carving knives and the hook knives, about 9 of the Mora knives and each of them has traits that I like and use over some of the other knives in my collection. And none of the Moras cost me more than the latest purchase which was about $60. The only knife that I own that money could not buy is a very old Marbles antlered handled skinning knife, made around the early 1920's when my grandfather bought it for field dressing deer. He passed it on to my dad and he, in turn, gave it to me. My oldest son will be the next recipient and so on and on
