I tried adding fish in an experiment a while ago to a 50 litre aquarium with tap untreated water left the Nano Plus running for 48 hours added fish and everything was fine with a test kit and the fish were fine with no disease or fatalities. I would still recommend leaving a newly set up aquarium using Hydra filters for a minimum of 72 hours and use a water conditioner as well at the start to neutralise chemicals such as chlorine, again don't worry about the slightly misty water which will clear up and believe me these filters produce crystal clear water!

I was going to buy a Hydra 40 for my Elite 240 litres aquarium replacing my old Fluval 4 Plus that last night "died" after 12 years!!!It was a reliable inner filter that was easy to use and clean and had 2 big sponges that I could find spare sponges easily! Now I have to by a new one and that was already been suggested as the best buy for a good inner filter by a local fish store that I am really satisfied in whatever I bought like my new Jewel Rio 240 tank and in a suitable price for what I needed.I will buy it this evening cause I am now better informed, I believe it will be the right thing to do!!I also have an outer filter for my community tank that I house 14 fish at about 15 centimetres average size.My outer filter is dophin 1300.Thank you my friend for this great video!!

Really great review about something I'd been curious about, since it's not a normal filter, thanks

Excellent review! Please can you tell me which tool/tester are you using? It is nice to have all the values in the cell

Hi why is it there are no bubbles coming out from my hydra 30 even if I have inserted the white hose? It seems there are waters inside the hose. How can I use it perfectly? Thank you so much

Is the catapure media just activated carbon? I am trying to stay away from carbon as I don't want the nutrients in my water to be removed, as my tank is heavily planted. I also dose fertilizer regularly, which I've heard is absorbed by the carbon rendering the ferts wasted.

Great review. I’m looking at these filters to see if one would help reduce nitrates in my reef tank.
I don’t have a sump so I was looking for something that was easy to maintain.
My tanks running fine so I’m apprehensive about adding one of these filter incase it upsets any water chemistry.

The tank is quite wide
Is the filter powerful enough to cover the whole tank

I also noticed it doesn't have a UV sterilizer in it. Does it need one, and if so will they be adding that as an option in their future products?

my filter does not produce so many bubbles .. and it releases them intermittently, works it wrong?

Hey, loving your vids. I’ve just started a new tank, and am a newbie to fish too. I’ve got one of these filters, the 20 and am wondering how long I should leave it before adding fish?

I run one Hydra 20 and two Hydra 30's with perfect results. The only gripe I have is the sponges are not the best fit in the lower compartment and could do to be a snug fit.

Hello, thank your for making many interesting videos about shrimps :) there’s one problem about neo-caridina shrimps that I know of just recently and I have not heard about it from your videos.
so I have Blue Dream shrimps at home. I’ve learned from your videos that the problem with mixing/crossbreeding shrimps is that, if I buy Blue Dreams from different breeders, I don’t always get blue offspring shrimps back, because they are from different lines of breed, they can all have the same blue colour but they could be from a very different origin and just been a long time selective breed until eventually they get the desired colour. So this is the only problem with mixing or interbreeding shrimps from different sources, or interbreeding shrimps of different colours, is that they can turn back into the brownish colour wild shrimp.

But recently after me buying again Blue Dreams from different breeders in Germany, because I live in Germany, I’ve just noticed a new issue called “Bakterien unverträglichkeit”.
2 or more breeders have been warning me about buying Blue shrimps from different lines of breed can lead to a problem called “Bakterien unverträglichkeit” which translate to “bacteria intolerance”. I think it basically means that, each line of shrimp carries its own specific type of bacteria in their body, and once I put them in the same tank (don’t know if it happens only to the offsprings after crossing or it happens immediately as soon as they share the same tank), either one of the two groups of shrimps will die off due to the fact that they are not immune to the different type of bacteria. Or it can also be that shrimps from both groups will suffer serious death.
This “bacteria intolerance” problem seems to be quite commonly known in Germany, also many forums about it. But I have never found any information about it from watching videos or reading forums from American nor from the UK.

The issues happened to me:
I’ve had Blue Dreams in my tank, but because almost all died from Hydra and the survivors have bad colours, I wanted to buy higher quality Blue Dreams to improve the genes again. 2 days after I put the new shrimps in, I start seeing shrimps dying. At first I thought that it was because I’ve watched the filter sponge too clean and therefore some shrimps are dying from bacterial death. But then actually each day I see always shrimp deaths and they were all from the lower quality shrimps which I’ve already had in my tank. And the new one I just bought are all doing just fine. This brings to my attention to the problem and I want to address it here.

Symptoms:
The shrimps don’t die right away, you’ll see that they are kind of half dead and lying sideways on the floor and they will struggle for 2 days (48hrs) until they really completely pass away. While they are still struggling on the floor not being about to walk or swim, the colour of the body is already turning white like a dead shrimp, but they are still moving.

If you have any knowledge about this problem, I would really appreciate it if you can give me some information about it. Perhaps mention it on your next video.

Thank you 
Steven

Your severum is beautiful! Would love to see your BGKF if you ever get some footage of it. I used to have one my self who was best buddies with a Spotted Raphael catfish (they would share a cave for 3 years until I rehoused them into a 55G from a 15G, where they found new separate housing).
