I think the more ironic thing in that scene was daniel saying "we don't each these kids to fight with anger" a few seconds later he sucker punches johnny out of anger

Funny thing is every time Johnny and Daniel turn a new leaf they still find ways to beef wit eachother.

Johnny wasn’t being a hypocrite. He was just reminding Daniel that Miyagi wasn’t as perfect as he thought he was.

Johnny wasn't being a hypocrite as he didn't say he himself didn't lie, he was calling out Daniel for immortalizing this man who was only human and pointing out to Daniel that Mr Miyagi wasn't this deity that Daniel made his old sensei out to be.

Imagine being bullied and a hero appears in your life who saves you, gives you a car, helps you become a better man mentally, Daniel rightly respects Miyagi a lot he's like a Father to him.

They refuse to admit that they have the same flaws

Honestly one of the core messages of this show is that no one is perfect and everyone will have their flaws but it's up to those people to correct them that's why people like it so much
