Playing this song for any new Helldivers I come across while waiting in Orbit.

If they're old hands from the days of ODST, they'll understand... If not, they eventually will.

Some colonies never surrendered. Even after the glassing, the ragtag bands of survivors resorted to guerrilla tactics against the Covenant. ODSTs preferred the Covenant carbine, even capturing a Covenant destroyer at one point, and raised a tattered flag on the barren highlands once they learned the war was over.

10 years, 10 long years I’ve been looking for the actual song. In behalf of every ODST fan, thank you.

Halo had such a way of portraying Humanity. When placed against an Alien Armada like the Covenant, who outnumbered them 10 to 1 and was pretty much commiting a mass genocide against them, they STILL pushed back and fought with absolutely everything. Not even a single thought of surrender because everyone knows a humans determination to survive overcomes anything even if it means risking death.

Let it be known that even the Elites held an unspoken respect for Humanity during the human-covenant war. The tenacity, bravery, and cleverness displayed by Humanity in their 25 year long defensive war of attrition struck the most revered warriors of the covenant as worthy of respect and admiration. Think of the millions upon millions of humans who died fighting in the halo universe, it's no wonder so many elites considered it an honour to die in battle against a worthy enemy.

Remember when bungie took away that power you had as a Spartan, a literal super soldier, and put you in the shoes of an ODST and made up for the loss with the Jazz and the amazing soundtrack? I do too. It’s cool to see things from another character’s perspective, cause it really makes you think.

I swear to god if we ever meet Aliens and we go into war, this will be mankind’s anthem.

From a commenter on another video, these are the lyrics in the original Welsh:

"Gafflwn Dihenydd, o'r fuddugol yn wiriol sydd. Ni fydd neb yn ein Drechu, Falch ydy ni i drochu, Traed o flaen i'r Annwn, mewn y gwybodaeth fe godwn ni.''

Which translate into English as:

"We cheat Death from his rightful victory. No one can defeat us we are glad to plunge feet first into hell in the knowledge that we will rise."

the sound of wolfs, marching, and the increasing intensity leading up to just the vocals was absolutely spine chilling

This inspired lore for one of the races in my D&D setting.

The Tutag are basically what you would get if you blended together Celts, dwarfs, and halflings. Short fellows, lovers of peace, but no stranger to war.

Every once in a while, before battle, one of them will receive the Death Kenning. They will awaken knowing that they shall die in battle. They will host their own wake, and paint themselves not with woad, but with ashes.

A message to their healers to not waste their time upon him.

And a warning to their foes that when they fall, they shall drag their enemies across the Bone River with them.

"Feet First Into Hell." - ODST motto

I learned to sing this phonetically over a year. My father died on the eve of the pandemic. I never got the chance to spread his ashes as he wished, I plan to sing this when I do.

Your squad is gone. Dead, or scattered. You hear them now, close.

The brute barks, alien voices reply. More are coming, and a quick glance to your ammo meter tells a stark tale indeed.

MA5, depleted, Frag, Spike, Plasma, depleted. 2 Incendiary grenades and 2 mags for your M6S. You hear them closing on you, and time is up. You rise to roar your defiance one last time, victory or death all that's left now.

Feet first, Helljumpers.

I know I’m gonna catch a lot of flak for this comment but I think halo 3 ODST was the best halo game in my eyes. The storytelling, the visuals, and the music, it was innovative as hell. Just goes to show you don’t always need a open world to tell a good story.
