If I could go back and tell my newly bearded self a few pieces of advice, here they are:

1. If you want a long, full beard, don’t touch the neckline. There will be an awkward phase for a little while while your neckline looks scraggly, but it will do wonders to support the back of your beard as it gets longer. If you trim the neckline, your beard will look thin and you might get discouraged. Ask me how I know.

2. One tip I learned from one of Dan’s videos that really helped me is to comb in the shower. It’s great for exfoliation and to help train your beard hairs to grow in the direction you want. It’s also a great way to spread wash and conditioner throughout the beard.

3. Have fun with it. Try a few different companies. Find what works best for you and your beard.

4. If you have a significant other, let them choose a scent you think they might like.

Dan,

This video absolutely ought to be your intro on your homepage! Without question.

In my opinion, it’s the best one to grab new potential subscribers. Just my two cents. Enjoy the rest your week.

After 15 years of growing my beard, didn't knowing anything about beard products, i was simply using hair shampoo on my beard, i had itching and dry skin all those years and wasn't paying attention to the symptoms, just once i used medicated hair shampoo for dandruff and of course it didn't done anything. I randomly watched one of your videos before couple of months and my life changed instantly. Now my beard is healthy, no more itching and dry skin. Thank you Dan for your precious efforts through your videos you share your knowledge to us. Keep it up.

This video makes me think me of parallels between working out and beard grooming. Many embark on these journeys with high expectations but end up quitting too soon. Remember, it's not a sprint; it's a marathon! Patience is the key, along with dedication, consistency, and a solid routine :)

Dan I know plenty of guys who don’t want to do the maintenance of the beard & are scared to show the whites & grays of their beard.
I always tell them as you get your routine in it becomes faster. But to each their own.

Wish I saw this video at the beginning of my beard journey, but then I might not have immersed myself in the world of Dan C. Bearded. Thank you for providing a foundation for beginners Dan.

Hey, Dan. Just discovered your channel! I've had a beard for a few years but similar to another comment, I haven't been taking care of it and it's kind of stalled at 4 1/2 to 5 inches. Dry and stiff. Only recently have I started using beard wash, beard conditioner & oil. Previously, just hair shampoo. A once through in the morning with a plastic hair comb. Love your channel! Already learned a lot, and I've only watched a couple of your videos. Now I'm subscribed and look forward to watching them all. Thanks, brother.

One thing I would emphasize is "starting where you're at". I had about a 4" beard before started doing anything healthy with it and didn't have any issues. There's no need to trim way back or shave and start over.

YEAH BRO! Thanks for the reminder and advice of good beard care. You might remember, I started my beard about a year ago after waiting 42 years to grow one because I worked in a refinery. The beard is coming along real well. Looking well established at this point thanks to your tutorials. Keep up the good work my friend, and Thanks again for all you do for us!

Issues I have w/ my longer beard:

1) I keep losing hairs in the morning when showering and combing....
2) the hair under my bottom lip will NOT grow, and just curls looking stupid.... I have to utilize a wax, which sucks....
3) How do I trim the area on my sideburns, where do you allow it to grow long, and where do you trim?

If anyone has a video I can watch I would be grateful, thanks!

For me the most daunting task was trying to find a barber that could do beard trims or hedging. Luckily I never had to. I decided to grow my beard long and learned to trim my beard by watching your videos Dan. I just trim the bottom like you. I do trim the mustache often as it’s a comprise as my wife doesn’t want hair in her mouth and I don’t blame her. I really enjoyed and 2.5!years later still loving learning about my beard as it get different challenges by time of year and length. You have taught me and 100k so much. Thanks Dan

Best video yet! Short, to-the-point, easy to understand, and super informative.

I’m down with the whole program - except for the beard wash. I’ll have to try some out.
