vSphere 6.5 - VMware vCenter Server Appliance 6.0 upgrade to VCSA 6.5

In this tutorial I walk you through how to upgrade the VMware vCenter Server Appliance (VCSA) from 6.0 to 6.5 with an embedded platform services controller.
This operation is a 2 stage process that includes:
1. Deploying the new VCSA 6.5
2. Copying the configuration from VCSA 6.0 to the new VCSA 6.5
If you are currently running VMware Update Manager on a Windows Server, I also cover the migration assistant that is used to complete the transition from Update Manager running on Windows, to Update Manager running within VCSA 6.5

I had a lot of problems while migrating, to run the migration tool. Basically, rebooting the windows server from Update Server solved and I could continue just as in your video. Thanks for the support!

During our upgrade, we had the vpxd service fail at 62% on Stage 2, something related to a certificate error. All our certs (self-signed) are valid, so waiting to hear back from VMware. I've seen a few other blog/forum posts that appear to have the same issue. Just an FYI folks.

I noticed I could upgrade my license from 5.5 to 6 but no option to upgrade from 6 to 6.5. Do you know why this is?

we don't have VUM update manager installed on 6.0 yet; do we need to install one before upgrading to 6.5? or is it safe to skip it and upgrade 6.0 to 6.5 directly?

Hi Great vedio . I have one query related to Mounting Vsphere 6.5 ISO at 2.19 min .. Here could you please tell me which machine you have used . Is there any machine which is running windows /2012 or your using your Laptop .. Am having a confusion here where we need to mount the ISO & start .. Since I don't have VUM server.

thanks for the vid. for me i ran into an error when authenticating to vcenter with root account even though i could log in via putty with the root password. I had to remove the "!" from the password as i found that the password cannot contain a ! or /
