They're French aren't they, not Dutch?

Taken my bike on hols this year. French roads are a different breed to the shoddy ones back home. Can only begin to imagine how sweet that bike is on french roads.
Went to the Liverpool store and saw this beauty first hand. Looks to be a semi realistic bucket list bike.

Can’t really go wrong for the price. This is up there for my next choice of bike

Good to get a 'down to earth' view on the bike. I'm in market for a new ride now and this made my shortlist but you've described some of the reasons I didn't go for it (specifically the RCR Pro Ultegra) - I was concerned about comfort and refinement and also some of the components like bars (size choice limited and no one-piece option), tyres and saddle not great. Finally the paint options are currently none existent.
I'm going with Madone SLR7 which is more expensive but ticks every box for me.

Why'd you switch from SL8 and how does it compare to it especially in the comfort department?

Shimano FDs are great. You should be able to do 52/34 on your chainrings by just swapping the small ring to 34. It's not recommended by Shimano, but it works. Then 34/34 and you can stay in zone 2 up most climbs.
Decathlon shouldn't sell 11-30 cassettes on these bikes, but they probably got them for cheap. There's no good reason to run that instead of 32 or 34, as the spacing is virtually the same until the last few cogs.

Great vid as usual Dan. Cheers for your insights on the chainring/ cassette sizes, really helpful for those doing more and more climbing like myself ;)

You’ve made an interesting point ..you said on the higher spec bike that didn’t have such low gears, that you were getting a PB on every hill, so I’m curious why you would think of swapping it for the 11-34 cassette if the one that was already on it was giving you a PB each time.

Nice bike, slit in the seat definitely helps reduce pain on the winky.

If you were buying yourself as an average cyclist looking to upgrade but not go crazy would you chose the RCR or the RCR pro at £1200 more expensive? Ps just found your channel and it’s ace 👌👌

Get some 30mm or 32mm tyres on there mate you wont regret it, faster, smoother, better cornering and more comfortable nothing to lose 👌🏼 what do you make of the van rysel cycling shoes?
