The way you create this on a free and open-source tool is awesome!

Nick your skills are great, but i request you to explain the reason for using particular feature in particular place so that we can have a good understanding about illustration; This kind of tutor will make us only rely upon you everytime and not make us to think beyond and take a step forward. For example in this tutor you should have shown us some instance paints or picture of this illusion effect and the science behind it before dive in to it.

You, sir, are very talented. Thank you so much for taking your time in making these tutorials especially for us novices! I hope one day I will be as talented as you!

I have notices others comment also that our programs don't respond the same.... HMMM. Loving your videos.

Well I am trying to snap to cusp. I see the same toolbars are on but it only occasionally will give the words snap to cusp? Is there something else I need to do?

Good video, but can you try to explain what you're doing throughout the video?
I understood what happened and what I did but I am just asking for future tutorials maybe some people won't be able to understand what they did to understand how the shape was formed

First make a square and turn it into a diamond shape, duplicate it and move it a little down from the original square. Select the copy and original then click Path> Difference. Break it in half (short way) and change the colors then create a stroke around it. Do the same to the other one. Duplicate all of it then move it up. Connect the sides of it by selecting both shapes and going to the bezier pen and clicking Path> Union. Do the same to the other side. Get rid of the stroke. Finished...

AT 2:08, when I clicked difference both shapes disappeared. I acheived the video's result by clicking exclusion.
