HOW TO START DIRTBIKE WITHOUT KICKSTART

I know that you're going to tell how stupid this is, that this makes no sense and maybe you are right. Pushing a dirtbike to get it started is much simpler, but you need much more space and small downhill or friend who is going to help you. This technique will work on four strokes and two stroke bikes. Imagine you are in forest and you don't have kickstart and your battery is dead, you tried to push the dirtb bike to start it but you don't have space and speed for that. So try this trick maybe it will work for you....

Brilliant! So many times i had dead battery with my HQ fe350. Now i got kickstart for my te300 but im gonna try this anyway

The bolt that holds the kickstart on broke off into the spendal thing that turns over the engine on my Kx125 thank you so much this trick is a lifesaver can’t tell you how many times I’ve shut my bike off and not have a hill within 5 miles to roll it back off lmaoo

I remember that is preferible to do this on 2STROKE, NOT 4STROKE if you don't want to break the engine

This will most likely only work on 2 strokes and small 4 strokes. I can not even roll start my 2019 KTM 500 EXC F on dry tarmac rolling down a hill putting all my weight at rear and I am 80kg with gear. The rear wheel will just slide in any gear that have chance of starting it... Same with my old Yamaha WR450F, big 4 strokes have to much compression to roll start in any gear is my experience. Put it in high enough gear to get it rolling at all and it is to slow to start. Big 4 strokes without kick start like my 500 EXC is a very bad idea and one day it will lead to me having to walk many hours down from the mountains as I have no friends to ride with and no cars can get up there. It is easier to push start a car then big 4 stroke single cylinder motorcycles, I have push started my 1250kg Mercedes 190E 2.0 alone on straight road no problem when dynamo died and engine stopped because lack of electricity to injection system...

awesome. I don't ride a motorcycle, I have a 50cc scooter. I am older and just don't want to go through the hassle of getting a motorcycle license (it's quite challenging and costly where I am from) and I have no need to ride that fast to just go local rides. I cannot kick start because of bad knees and the electric start is very spotty. Many years ago I had a moped and you were supposed to pedal it and then start, but you could just run with it and start on the fly (or roll it downhill and start as well). I am wondering if the same might work on a motorcycle or scooter (that is given you are on pavement as doing this in grass would not be so easy).

easier two solutions: 1st: put bike into 1st gear and push, 2nd: put bike into first gear and just go down the hill :)

Can someone explain the mechanics of this?

I don't understand how this works? Wouldn't dropping the bike from that position roll the back wheel in the wrong direction? I thought you need the back wheel to roll forward in order to start the bike.
