EU seeks to ban Russia from circumventing sanctions: adoption of the new 11th sanctions package

The European Commission is preparing to present details of the 11th package of sanctions against Russia to the EU ambassadors, Politico reports. According to sources of the publication, the day before, at closed briefings, the ambassadors were given information about the content of the new sanctions package. According to the Financial Times, the future package will expand the list of sanctioned persons, as well as close the so-called 'loopholes' for circumventing restrictions. The European Union imposed a package of sanctions last year that included a total ban on Russian aircraft flying over its entire territory. But the total net profit of the 27 leading passenger airlines in Russia at the end of last year was 2.8 times more than in 2021.

NATO countries have imposed a record number of sanctions against Russia in an attempt to bring down its economy. But the dividend yield of many Russian companies will be double-digit this year. According to the Moscow Exchange index, it is already about 11%.
