Arcbishop Ganswein's job is to be the voice of Benedict, passing on his messages to the world. When someone pretends to be him they pretend to be Benedict by default.

Why would Benedict at his age be sending off letters to Steubenville defending Vatican ll ? Doesn't that strike everyone as kind of odd ? Especially when you take into consideration his reticent nature ?

Pray the Rosary daily, do the 5 first Saturdays and consecrate ourselves to her Immaculate Heart.

Benedict does not write like a "grade schooler." If the letter was easily understood (which it was), it was not from Benedict.

The Facebook fact checkers seem to have dropped the ball on this if this was circulating on Facebook before kath net sought verification directly from the Archbishop.
A quick internet search of “impersonating a bishop” brings up canon 1391.
I’m inclined to think this was done by somebody trying to stir the pot .

I think we can determine the real Benedict XVI in his book "The Spirit of the Liturgy". He was quite conservative in his Theology of the MASS, etc.

This is expected. Poor Pope Benedict. He should be suffering a lot. It is incomprehensible how someone can just come up with such kind of cheap confusion. Why really? Only the devil can bring such rubbish. Who really stands to gain by this letter? Pope Benedict is a martyr of the spirit.

the letter where former Pope Benedict praised the present Mass, was a very odd letter, vague and not like his former style at all. I have been under the impression, right along that he is more a prisoner than resident, maybe from the beginning of his retirement. If appear means any things I believe former Pope Benedict is now too frail to write letters.

When I heard those comments supposedly made by Pope Benedict I thought they sounded strange. If he said that '.... the wolves are at the door'- the comments attributed to him just recently don't add up.

Too many confused people out there, just leave things in God's hands. He and only he controls what happens in the church. All the gossip is man's making. Don't feed into it. Pray and be kind to one another. I don't understand why Catholics continue to be part of this rubbish.
