Sure, they'll say they kind of, sort of understand life insurance, health insurance or auto/car insurance but in most cases, their insurance-related knowledge rests on a shaky foundation.

If you're going to be recording all of your own stuff, invest the $5-10 in a pop filter and things will sound a lot better.

You might also benefit by backing off the mic a bit and adjusting the levels accordingly.
