The original 645 also have the two shutter buttons. Only the J has one removed.

Back in the mid 1980's I photographed mostly weddings. My main work camera was the 1000S, my back-up body was the M645. The lenses I had were the usual except for one lens, it was a "leaf-shutter", it was great for outdoor work. I've had other Mamiya cameras, but for me, the older 645 models were my favorite.

Its a beautiful camera. Still have it. I only outgrew it for AF & TTL. A perfect 2nd body

This may be a dumb question but why are there two shutter speeds on the camera? One on the prism finder and one on the body of the camera?

Do you use the prism shutter speed when it's on and disregard the one on the side of the body?
