Matthew 27:46 - Scripture Twisting 101

"About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

Al Fadi invites special guests David Wood and Sam Shamoun to explore Biblical scripture commonly used by Muslims, manipulated and out of context, to disprove the Truth of the Word of God.

I am a Christian living in Saudi Arabia. Many people have addressed me with the expression "Allah yoo salli " in appreciation of something. And anytime they want bless me they say "ta barak allah " meaning God bless you.

Brother Al Fadi and brother Sam would be awesome to meet you all one day too. Got back from strong Tower conference and am pumped to sharpen my double edged sword.

In Christ Jesus we are brought to humility and wisdom and in tempered tongues we will slay the Dragon. Amen

Today, I attended a community Ash Wednesday service at a local Methodist Church. This Scripture, along with Psalm 22:1-2, were the Scriptures of the Day. A local Baptist minister delivered the message. "Why Me? Why Him?"

To me it is clear that Jesus prayed this for two reasons:
1) to make the connection with Psalm 22
2) to allow people to see and hear the perfect example to follow for us human beings

Jesus was still teaching us while hanging on the cross.

It is weird though that Muslims use this verse. Jesus was hanging on the cross. Muslims don't believe that Jesus was crucified.

I hate to make this kind of analogy but for the sake of those stubborn Muslims who consistently reject the deity of Christ because He prayed to the Father, I think this analogy would be appropriate and I pray that it makes sense to those Muslims. Now Muslims, I want you all to think of a magician (a human), who by his powerful magical tricks, takes the form of an elephant. While in the form of an elephant, I want you to think of these questions:
1) Will the magician, in the form of an elephant, behave like an elephant only?
2) Will the magician, in the form of an elephant, behave like both an elephant and man?
3) Will the magician, in the form of an elephant, behave like a man only?
As you ponder over these questions, I want you to consider the Gospel, that God took on flesh and dwell among us to save us from our sins.
Christ as God gave life, perform miracles, accept worship, had power over nature, claimed to be God....etc. As a human, Christ hunger, thirst, felt pain, was emotional, tired....etc. Open your heart Muslims and see the truth in Christ.

Actually, few days ago, I come across a comment from an atheist that was attacking someone on FB, just because below an article discussing crucifixtion as a Roman practice dared to write that Jesus turned the cross into a symbol of salvation, and the atheist was sarcastically quoting this verse!
Not only Muslims use this verse to try to attack Christianity. Indeed, I asked him if he at least knew that this verse is a quote from the Psalm!
