DIY Subaru Engine and Transmission Mount Install

Installing an engine and transmission mount today because my OEM mount decided that it was done holding my motor. I have read that these will increase NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) so look out for that.

Hey this is a great diy video. You did a really good job explaining everything with swapping motor mounts. Also now I feel more confident if I was going to tackle something like this in my driveway. I'm hoping it's similar procedure for my crosstrek. The xv's are really lacking on power so I think heavy duty engine/trans mount will help a little. I replaced my catback this weekend and noticed a lot of play in the trans mount while I was under there.

Afternoon, I’m going to be trying this job with my 2007 outback 2.5. Hopefully this will work with the car on ramps. I’m going to cut about 5 - 8 inch planks of wood and give it a shot. Engine thumps when cranking over so I believe the mounts are going bad.

okay this might sound dumb (and is also 6 years late) but I have a question about the bolts you use to attach the new mount to the transmission. I did the same process you did, but as you mentioned, it was very difficult to tighten some of them. In fact, one managed to rattle out and fall out while on the road. It had been 2 years since I replaced it, and when I went down under my car, there were two different types of bolts screwing into the mount! Two on the one side tightened well, while the other on the other side (has a washer while the others were one piece) just spins and spins like it's stripping the threads inside. Were all of your bolts one piece without washer and did you have any stripping issues?

Hi, great video. Is the procedure the same (or basically the same) for a 2010 Forester? Thanks!

Hi
Thanks for making helpful video. Is this same procedure for 2013 subaru outback? Also do you order parts from subaru dealer?

Hey love the video! So I am working on a 2009 subaru forester 2.5x and I got both these nuts out as you showed but the engine isn't raising at all. Is there something I'm missing?

so trans mount seems pretty pain free to do aha. thankfully. just got some group n sti mounts for engine and trans for my wrx. car has 270xxx on it and pretty sure theyre still the factory ones in there. should make the car feel pretty crisp again

Why did you go with the Torque Solutions mounts versus stock or Subaru's Group N mounts? I have the Group N mounts and can slightly feel the idle rumble in the steering wheel and pedal; how much more NVH do you notice? And have you done any rear diff mount bushings or rear subframe outrigger bushings? I put in Turn in Concepts' Klunk Killer kit in a long time ago and I can feel it tightened up the rear end so much and stop the diff from hitting the subframe.
Thanks for the informative videos!

Hey I follow you on instagram. I found this video because I'm doing the transmission mount on my 2012 wrx. At the end when you started talking about rally I was like oh cool I should check out his other videos and then I saw your username. Great video! Still holds up

Awesome video! How do you like these mounts? I just installed them on my 14 wrx and a get a lot of vibrations when starting out in 1st. All the other gears r ok. But it vibrates a lot when starting from a stop. Let me know if you experience a lot of vibrations thanks!

I think you can install the trans mount easier by taking out the center piece and installing the four bolts into the transmission, then after torquing them down you can install the piece that has the bushings and tighten its bolts. Also, am I the only one that thinks the transmission mount looks a little crooked/angled?

What mounts are compatible with the sf5 forester? I see lots of impreza and sti mounts but nothing outside of oem.
