I like coins for collecting purpose and buy bars as my main stacking. My local jewelry shop pays the same for 1 oz bar and coin and he always pays at least $50 over spot. So I always prefer the cheapest bars to maximize the return if I want to sell it.

The best pure bullion to stack is the generic one which has the absolute lowest premium. Gold is gold and silver is silver. When you weight stack it actually makes little to no sense to worry about anything except the lowest premiums; the only caveat of course being that you're buying a genuine precious metal product.

The only time I concern myself with anything but premiums is when I don't weight stack but purchase a PM product for some other reason (such as because I'm going to flip or collect said piece).

The best gold bars to stack are the cheapest ones. If you are talking about the best gold bars in terms of design - there are only two - Pamp Suisse Lady Fortuna Gold Bars and Schloss Guldenhaus Geiger square gold bars. The problem with these two types of gold bars is the premiums are very high. That's the problem.
