Number 10 = That view from Mt Ainslie is named the "Marion Mahony Griffin View" - in honour of Walter Burley Griffin's wife whose finished artwork of Walter's design was one of the reasons why they won the prize to design Canberra. It included her envisaging of what that view could look like, once built up. A replica of that view is part of the MMG View - with accompanying background on the early years of our city (viewed at 1.19 in this video). Then spend some time walking around Lake Burley Griffin itself - and take in the view of the Brindabella Mountains that surround our city.

Opposite the National Gallery is The National Portrait Gallery, containing many portraits of the people who contributed to Australia's life. Many from our colonial periods illustrate those who were famous - and those who were not so famous. Their faces are enthralling.

For those with an interest in the Vietnam War period, there is a sound and light exhibit in the National War Memorial of an insertion of our infantry by Huey (with one of the helicopters used in the war). Using actual recordings of voices from one of them.

I actually very much expected to see and hear some details about the plan of the city. I heard it was planned by an American.

Don't invite Queensland Premier Steven Miles to Canberra because he thinks it is the worst place to visit in Australia.

The man is a dropkick if thinks Canberra is an unpleasant place to visit imagine what he would say about Albury/Wodonga.
