After some trials and tribulations, we bring to you the only "affordable" dual-panel TV, the Hisense U9DG. Can it beat OLED? Is it too little too late?

I was really hoping for a more optimistic development of this technology, not for its own sake, but as a lever for more traditional panels

I love how Linus spells out A-L-E-X-A to avoid tripping everyone's apparently ubiquitous little Amazon surveillance node.

I completely forgot about dual-layer LCD between MiniLED & OLED. It’s cool to see various kinds of TV tech on LTT.

This would be the optimal solution for PC monitors. No burn-in and no halo effects around sharply defined objects. For TV, an OLED would also do.

Until OLED can really address burn-in, this is the kind of tech that makes sense for typical monitors. After seeing the episode with Linus having to burn more pixels down on the OLED to homogenize the pixels…I have no faith in them for PCs.

This is the most returned tv at best buy right now. I was so tempted to buy, it has been on sale for months, even before it was announced to be discontinued. Unfortunately the issue with it is major, the cpu can not handle the quality of the screen, let's just say it like that. Response time is bad, motion is bad, loading apps or switching between apps will sometimes cause the screen to freeze. Now, it has a great picture quality, hands down the best picture quality for the money, it can't be beat. But you won't be looking at a still picture, I don't think anyways lol. So nope, don't buy it. making this video for content is great, but for anyone watching stay away from this tv, even with the massive discounts is not worth it. You will be extremely annoyed by it all the time. Also, LG just came out with C2, so the C1 are on sale almost everywhere and a 77" C1 can be bought for $2000.

What a fantastically 'simple' and effective idea! Too bad it wasn't too economical in the end! I wouldn't mind one at all coz my gaming is at a minimum

This TV was $1199.99 USD at Best Buy on March 31st.... It's still for sale, but THAT was the time to buy.

"Kinda like Chris Rock's face" Garnered an audible laugh, and disturbance to the wife's zoom meeting; thank you sir!

I love the HTTYD 3 going on in the background during the intro!

Even just going from LED to Mini LED is an amazing transition. My 2016 sharp looks almost decades behind my LG "Sim" TV purchased last year

The transmission loss through 2 LCD will be huge. I wonder what the energy consumption of that TV is in HDR.

I just bought that tv a month ago for $1300 from Best Buy. Really happy with it. The blacks are so dark it looks like it’s off when the image is black it’s seriously close to OLED. Love seeing inky blacks right next to a bright part of the scene. My only issue is there is motion blur as mentioned. It’s really not that bad. But if you’re really sensitive to it you’ll notice it sometimes. Though I’d be willing to bet most people won’t notice

Hello Linus! You're the one youtuber my dad loves to see me watch. He got confused about your CPU facility video, and was asking me questions that I answered to perfection! So I thank you for a well educated life.

I wish they would have made another one, this TV really could have been really amazing in a couple more generations.

I really think this technology might make a big comeback sometime in the future. If companies keep putting R&D money into it, the manufacturing process will eventually become less complex. This could even become the norm for TVs, it’s such a great idea.

Your ad spot amused me. A pair of DJs I know on twitch were responding on Friday to me putting their stickers on my LTT water bottle by doing a sponsor spot like you do, and they chose this sponsor. Pretty good impression of you too.

I ALMOST bought one of these when they dropped to $1200. Couldn’t do it. Got scared because of the unknown/unproven tech, and several poor reviews (even though most reviewed with the TV was selling for 2X+ the price). I ended up getting a great deal on a LG C1. No regrets.

I'm so disappointed. I was really curious about this from the moment I learned about it. It seemed like a solid solution for HDR monitors without having to go OLED and risk burn-in...
