The modeling is genius, but I feel like the particles look a bit fuzzy. Most tennis balls don’t just have strands point straight out, they curve in all manner of directions and overlap on each other. The Brownian feature does that quite easily.

That top half rotate trick was a sly move really. Quick note: I think there is a function in edit mode that allows you to separate geometry without separating the object. Just select the faces and press Y and it will separate the geometry. Alternatively, you can also select the middle vertices ring and press V to rip and right click to avoid moving the vertices and the top part will be loose this way.

I'd make the hair a little less.
Also tweaking the materials.
Great tutorial tho, taught me that the weld modifier does what it does

Cool tutorial, quick tip, no need for weld modifier, just hit a to select all then press m and select merge by distance, which will merge all overlaying vertices

Save merge verts by distance to quick access, you can save yourself the trouble of going through the weld modifier if you're gonna make a destructive edit anyways. Good video tho

i was so confused when you added a uv sphere, even more confused when you split in half, but it all made sense once you rotated it. genius.

this is a great idea. just one thing. that's a very aggressive pole right there, that might need fixing, but then again it's hidden under fur and only rendered out, since you can't export the hair particle system outside of blender.

with tennis balls they are more fuzzy than they are hairy but overall this looks pretty good.

The topology it's not that bad, tbh. Because it isnt a moving part unless in animation you want to make it squish before it bounce then you have a problem.

this is probably not the most efficient way of doing it. Some Blender artists can't hokd back on the polygon count
