Here we go through the process of setting up the TP-Link HS110 smart plug on the Kasa app and the how to link that to the Sense Home Energy Monitor. This adds some additional functionality and can help with tracking devices that Sense can't recognize easily due to intermittent and irregular wattage use.

Thanks for the vIdeo. Helped with install & SENSE integration, pretty simple really but great to have you as instructions with Kava were abit brief.

Thanks for the overview. Very helpful. Trying to find some energy vampires.... I think with the HS110 it will be much easier.

The smart plugs seem like a good enough deal, they aren't that much more expensive than a normal individual-switch plug adapter....but $300 for a monitoring unit, that seems a bit excessive to try and shave pennies from devices you "forgot to turn off." I appreciate the reminder for the plugs though.

Sidenote, I'm designing a charging station for all of my cordless device chargers, and I'm currently looking at a 6 plug strip with individual switches for like $18 that I was going to mount center....but I was wondering if you had any ideas on a better approach so I didn't have so many exposed wires (just going to mount the strip to the center board and all the charger's cords feed through the back, but the strip would be front facing so the feed would still have to show at the strip). I really wanted it to be plug-and-play style just in case I change things around, so I didn't want to resort to wire-packing....know of any strips with individual switches that the switch is on the opposite side of the plugs?

Does Sense learn the device connected to the smart plug or does Sense only see the smart plug and doesn't learn what is plugged into it? I'm curious if the smart plug can be used to speed up the training of devices... For example, use the smart plug to learn the TV, learn the tv, then move it to the washing machine, learn it and then continue. Thanks

do you have to program in the devices with no smart plug?
i imagine you would have to for things like standard lights and it would confuse them.
What if you have two devices without smart plug that draw identical current - like an electric kettle and a hair dryer both around 1500w?

Will kasa notify me if my sump pump activates? Or do I also need sense? I'm plugging the sump pump into the hs110
