Amit Shah, the Union home minister, stated that the BJP has had many Vokkaliga and Kuruba MLAs in the past and members of these communities have supported the party. He also mentioned that the BJP has gained significant support in the Mandya-Mysuru region, which is dominated by Vokkaligas. Shah highlighted that his rally in Mandya was the largest he has ever addressed, and the prime minister also started his pre-election rally from Mandya, indicating the party's strong traction in the region. However, Shah also acknowledged that caste remains a significant political factor unless development reaches the people. He also noted that a new category of voters, comprising beneficiaries of the Modi government's initiatives, has emerged after 2014.
