General Grievous Origin story: Grievous, born Qymaen jai Sheelal. he was a ruthless Kaleesh warrior who took on the name Grievous while fighting in a war on his Wild Space homeworld. Sheelal's people, a reptilian species, hail from the planet Kalee. His people had been at war with an insectoid race called the Huk for generations.

Unlike the Kaleesh, the Huk had ties to the Galactic Republic. They pleaded with the Republic for help, framing the Kaleesh as the aggressors. As a result, the Republic dispatched Jedi to resolve the conflict. This led to the Kaleesh losing the war and becoming oppressed by the Huk. As a general who had fought hard for his people, this infuriated Sheelal. He grew to despise the Jedi with a burning hatred as a result.

Sheelal earns grave injuries when his shuttle is sabotaged by Count Dooku, who plants an explosive on his ship. Unbeknownst to Sheelal, the Sith, seeing the potential in Sheelal, had manufactured the accident in an elaborate plan to get the warrior to abandon his people and join the Separatists. Sheelal was offered life-saving treatment by Dooku, and he was transported to Geonosis and placed in a bacta tank. When he eventually woke up, he found that he and his injured body had been dramatically altered by droids, filling him with rage.

Dooku, however, lied to him and insisted that the Jedi had been responsible for the crash, which made Sheelal more open to accepting a cybernetic reconstruction in order to exact his revenge on the Jedi and the Republic. Eventually, his mind was altered, and his body was replaced almost completely with robotic components. He became a commander of the Separatist droid army and was then trained in the art of lightsaber combat by Count Dooku, becoming an expert at it. He used that expertise to hunt Jedi and collect their lightsabers as trophies.

General Grievous hated his cybernetic body, but he learned to celebrate it. He insisted that these cybernetic implants had improved him and his skill, and though he no longer had the recognizable body of his Kaleesh roots, he carried that history with him by maintaining some of the same weapons he earned and stole while he was a Kaleesh warrior. This was in addition to his lightsaber trophies, all of which fueled him and more and more to be a brutal fighter.

Grievous, then, has a backstory that's somewhat similar to Darth Vader's own. In a way, Grievous' transformation is almost more tragic, as the destruction of his body was planned intentionally by those who created the machine within which he would spend the rest of his life. Still, it's also quite a compelling story, and it makes Grievous even more of an interesting Star Wars villain.

If anyone is wondering why Grievous is broken, he became a cyborg when count Dooku exploded his ship. And he was told the republic/jedi did it leading to his hatred for the republic and or Jedi.

The Anikan scene always makes me tear up to this day. Mostly when hes on mustifar but also when hes just not being himself. We watch him grow up as a person from a lttle youngling to jedi knight. He was the chosen one, which just makes it shatter the heart even more. and to see him going through all that and putting yourself in his shoes it really does seem like the jedi order has turned against you. Having his mom already dead and just trying to make sure the same doesnt happen to your other loved one is truely heartbreaking. Really just seeing how you veiw it is so sad but then thinking about how ones really close to him like padmé and obi wan veiw it. Padmé knowing him since that little boy on tatoonie and Obi-wan having trained him since a little boy. When you see it from his POV or just relly putting yourself in their world its very emotional. Let that sink in..
