I am so glad someone is finally talking about the Robotaxi infrastructure that will be needed in each city or metropolitan area. I call them Robotaxi SuperCharging Hubs that will serve as wireless charging, cleaning and parking hubs. Each metropolitan area would need dozens of these Robotaxi SuperCharging Hubs, with each Hub capable of providing parking/charging space for thousands of CyberCab vehicles overnight. The location, size, and number of each of these SuperCharging Hubs would have to be determined prior to the rollout of the Robotaxi service.

Imagine being at a fair that features a figure eight race. All cars are Tesla with full FSD. No human drivers. The starting gun fires, all cars take off and the 10 laps of the race are run at maximum speed with no incidents. That is the future.

I disagree with Brian's assumption that the % FSD depends solely on miles per interventions. I already felt so much safer with FSD-Supervised for its 30-day trial that I expect everyone will want FSD. Robotaxi is functionality totally on top of FSD's appeal for the individual's purchase of a Tesla, even before the addition of Actually Advanced Summons plus Banish!!

I think Lidar or Radar could make a return. It was abandoned for the given reason that it was too hard to integrate with cameras. Now that we’re dealing with AI vs. heuristic code that could all change.
If Tesla hits a maximum with vision you’ll see other sensors come back…

LA has a car dependency problem that will only be solved by investing in a multi-modal approach. Robotaxi can help by reducing the demand for parking but will not solve the problem.

Here's something to think about. In 2021 roughly 6 million US accidents happened. If FSD was 10, 000 times better than a human, that leaves 600 accidents to possible have to litigate a year in the US alone. 100, 000 times better than a human leaves 60 accidents. Quite abit of chasing the 9's to go. Up to Tesla as to how much potential lawsuits they feel comfortable with.

...maybe it's what I said would happen, wireless charging on the front (or actually the back, also possible)...allows the vehicle to pull in and instantly charge, no humans. Could do on the floor, but a soft tap would likely be closer....

I don’t know any autonomous vehicle company with 8 LiDar devices on a single vehicle. EV that use LiDar also use cameras. I have seen EVs with 8 or more cameras and one or two LiDar devices.

I would like to see at the next unveil, Elon at a house calling a RoboTaxi with his phone. Then the RoboTaxi with no driver pulls up to his house & he gets in. Then it goes to a couple more places & picks up Franz, Kimbal & Robyn. When they get to the event two Optimus walk up to the RoboTaxi & helps them out of the car & the six of them walk together to the front of the stage to a standing ovation. The four humans in front & the two Optimus on the ends taking a bow. Elon walks up to the mike & yells out ... Ladies & Gentlemen ... RoboTaxi waits & Optimus & it brteaks into a 5 minute video showing RoboTaxi driving people around in China & elsewhere & showing Optimus in the factory & doing real work. At the end of the video in Big Bold letters the screen reads "The Future Has Arrived".
