Borderlands 2 Patriot's Infinity (Broken/Overpowered Gun)

After fighting a boss, this gun dropped. At first, I thought nothing of it because I had others that did more damage. Before selling it though, I wanted to test it out. With a magazine size of 1, I figured it would be a pointless gun. And then I fired it. I will try to have a better video up soon.

The title had it's intended effect. I got this on my first playthrough at level 9 and used it for the next 11 levels. Being my first playthrough and just walking with the trigger done through whole areas made it overpowered to me. Yeah, I didn't have to use it but I still did. Broken or overpowered doesn't have to mean it's not fun to use. It just means that gun drastically changed how I played the game for a significant portion of it. yeah, there were a couple snipers in the first borderlands i felt were like that. this gun actually shoots in an infinity pattern so its pretty cool.

This combined with the bee shield is highly effective on terra. The beauty of the gun is the infinite ammo and no reload, not so much the damage. A 35% pistol damage increase relic, the bee shield and this gun is awesome

I really like that in this borderlands you can give weapons to your other characters. This gun is definitely going to get passed around a lot.

I've heard of some other people getting it from the bandits around Doc Mercy as well. I'm not sure if it's the whole zone or just that little village of bandits or if they just weren't specific on who they got it from. There is also some other types of infinity guns. Some without the flame mod and others with a lesser power to them. Good luck hunting!

There are level 50 versions of this gun, Zer0 has several skills that add damage to pistols, especially this one with 0ne sh0t 0ne kill, and combined with all the class mods that increase damage and fire rate for Zer0 and it could very easily be OP. While I don't know how it would hold up to Terramorphous or Vermivorous, I know that for everything around my level at the time, they didn't stand a chance. I walked through them.

Check out the video I did testing it out if you haven't already. Also, Zer0 has a lot of class mods that affect pistol damage so a good class mod, the sheriff's badge relic (from the showdown quest), and the right skill set up can really set Zer0 up for massive damage with a pistol.

nope, it's honestly how the gun works. it dropped off a bandit boss and just doesnt use ammo. thats why i put broken gun in the title. its very overpowered.

ever hear of the Dove in the first Borderlands? pretty much a pistol with unlimited ammo and no reloads. sometimes the dove would have the ability to fire two-round bursts of corrosive rounds with consuming ammo. pretty much the same thing

i have the Bee shield and a Angelic B*itch SMG, so i have no shields drain on amp shots plus a SMG that has like 96.8 accuracy:

Yeah it's pretty awesome, it's gotten me out of a few jams just from having unlimited ammo. It's fairly awesome.

As long as the issue at hand isn't something that's mandatory or effects everyone then it ain't an issue or broken. In this case legendary weapons are the way they are meant to be overpowered and that's what's fun about them and that's why the stronger the legendary the harder it is to get. Also by the time you start getting the real good ones your on your second or third playthrough and in TVHM OR 2.5 which makes sense so I don't see the why all the fuss.

it will increase the level of the gun when you hit PT2.5 (completing PT2 (True Vault Hutner mode)) Everything scales up to level 50, like the boss/enemies who drop it.

I hate it when people say something is overpowered or broken in a non competive single player/coop game. You don't have to use it if you don't want to and it is a lengandary weapon which is suppose to be overpowered since the once of finding one is very slim for most unless your playing TVHM/2.5. It's meant to be enjoyed by easily squashing all those enemies that gave you a real challenge.The stronger the legendary the harder it is to get and you don't start your first run with them.

@ToTheMax1155 not quite, the weapon doesnt change, so to get a new level 50 one you have to go to a lvl 50 doc mercy and hope he drops it. still no guarantee, i know this well when im using my lvl 49 baby maker, still good, but it could be so much better D:

Thanks! I was pretty curious about if it would affect it or not too. I'm surprised it will count every bullet as a new one in the clip but increasing the reload rate doesn't increase the fire rate. It's like the bullet basically never leaves the gun so it is always the first fired but also allows the gun to never be reloaded or use ammo.

I'm not sure. I'm currently going under the bloodshed skill tree so I've been focusing on that but if it does affect every bullet for this gun that would be a huge damage boost. I will have to test it out.

yeah, i actually commented that in a reply to someone. at my level it seems way overpowered because i just walk through people and just never let go of the trigger

There were a few guns in the original that had unlimited ammo, best for when you get downed, don't need to reload.

There's nothing wrong with this gun, it's meant to work like that. Also did you notice the bullet pattern is the infinity symbol?
