This is HUGE. I wanted to do this but couldn’t figure it out. Now I can and adjust the little fills and hits that aren’t quite right, really speeds up my workflow!!

Started using Logic Pro X about a month ago (upgrade from GB). Love the short, easy to understand help from your videos. Thanks,

Or you can just Control Click on the drummer region and choose Convert to Midi and presto, it’s done. Logic does the rest. 🙂

I use that method all the time and it works. I'll "rough" in the drums, convert to MIDI, then listen and adjust the midi as I progress through the song. The thing with the patterns is when you start to cut/paste or shrink/expand it changes the pattern so having it in MIDI is super helpful. Colin has it down.

That’s nuts. I’ve been using Logic for a long time and I had no idea you could that. Subscribed.

Nice one. Another great thing this enables is the use of an external drum instrument like Ez drummer once you've used drummer to create the track. With the latest Logic update this is now a simple drag n drop process.

Hey Colin, I use this fine tuning technique all the time. What I struggle with is fills, it would be super useful if you could do a specific video on 10 common fills or lead in’s that could be converted into midi, leveraging your drumming talent. Maybe one for down the road. Thanks as always.

Hello Colin, i hope you are well. Thank you for these mini-courses. Q: how did you 'draw in' (with the little pen icon) the extra drum beats - presumably there is a shortcut, eg. 'control plus D'? Thank you.

I'm running an M2 but using a windows keyboard. All I know is the alt key works as Option key in mac. But it's not working. I literally pressed every button including Ctrl, Shift, etc. any solution?

strange option drag doesn't work for me it just creates another drummer track, I have to right click and create midi region?

These tutorials are fantastic! Am I correct in thinking if I ad a track using drummer instead of software setting it shows in editor as midi track so one wouldn’t need to convert it?

When I convert my drum tracks to MIDI the original drummer regions disappear. Is this because I have an older version of Logic Pro and not Pro X ?

I’ll add that you can get some wild differences messing with the time signature subdivision. The logic drummer will recognize 4/4, 8/8, 2/2, 16/16, etc differently. All these will apply to the same time-span but sound different!

I recently made the cardinal error of quickly blocking in some piano chords, a melody, and a bass line (to get a song idea down before forgetting it) without putting a drum track in place first. Is there any way to get Logic to 'analyse' the audio to produce a suitable drum pattern? I've tried using the 'Follow' feature, but with no real success. I've since tried to recreate the track from scratch, but can't work out what the tempo should be.

Please help. When I convert my drum track to midi…it removed my shaker…but worse yet…when I reconverted the midi drum back to the drum pattern…it changed the whole pattern. How can stop/prevent this ?

I have a problem with video tutorials. For example, you say, "Just add some toms, " and you do it. Or "change the velocity, " and you do it. But I don't know what keys you're hitting or how you're adding these things. You, and others, assume I already know how to do a specific thing. I'm a novice Logic user. I need to know the explicit steps you're taking to do whatever it is you're doing. Assume I know nothing. Thanks.
