I'm 67, I never listen to praise music. I love headbangin music, some rap. My husband of 49 years decided to start cheating. I gave him my life, I gave him my all. The last four months he destroyed me. I have Sarcoidosis and it messes with your mind. I'm on Welbutrin and have been for 10 years. He used this saying I'm nuts and need help. I quit praying, closed my heart to God. I was in a deep dark hole. I was on a path to hell. I had a plan, a list I was living on everyday. I had a target date when I was going to end my life. I come here early every morning and watch the music I love. Been watching a lot of Rage Against The Machine. To the right music suggested for me, this song is there. Coincidence? No I don't think so. I'm out of that dark hole, it took more than this song but it was the start. Praise God, I will never turn my back on him again. My marriage is over. He broke me so bad there is never going back. God bless you all.

I love the chorus - “you give me joy down deep in my soul.”

A maturer Christian will recognize that this deep joy is inspite of pain and in the midst of mourning. (Blessed are those who mourn, sorrowful yet always rejoicing).

The lyrics say “I’ve got true love instead of pain” not sure that was Christ’s experience on the cross (see psalm 22)

They also say “I’ve got joy instead of mourning.” Again it would be more helpful to express joy in the midst of mourning. For one reason, it’s because that is the true Christian experience. It will also be a comfort to mourning and suffering Christians rather than making them sing words they don’t believe or don’t feel or making them feel guilty because they are down.

I think the song would be more spiritually powerful if it was truer to the Bible.

But I love it and it’s a blessing! We’ve got the joy of the Lord!!!

Loss a friend knowing that we all going to have to take that call sooner or later ... but it don't change the hurt I feel inside...This song reminds me of what my Creator is trying to do in spite of the suffering... God is going to take care of death in the end, He told me how its going to end... In the meantime, God if I let him trying to switch the script for the living going through pain, moaning, insecurities and the feeling of being all alone...
